Interesting rumor/article about supposed facelift coming to DTD. It includes a parking garage...removal of Planet Hollywood (:cool1:) and include six themed "neighborhoods", four of them new. The Gateway, The Town Center, The Springs, The Landing, The West Side, and The Village Marketplace. The supposed code name for the project is "The BVD Corridor Stormwater Project”
Of course, we've heard all this before...Hyperion Wharf. So take this with a large grain of salt.

Here is the article.....

Looks great and very promising! I hope it's true and Disney follows through with a much-needed re-imagined DTD. Also, a parking garage is soooooo needed!!! Have you been to DTD during the Christmas holidays? It's a nightmare finding a parking spot!!! Splitsville was just the beginning. Keep going Disney!!! :thumbsup2

But, like the comments below the story . . . I'll believe it, when I see it! ;)

Looks OK but I wish they would find room for a new Comedy Warehouse and Adventurers Club.

Me too Jeff. :worried:

I liked the Hyperion Wharf concept better...this sounds like generic outdoor shopping mall to me.

If I got my enjoyment out of shopping it would be great - and I'm sure some people do. But I agree -the Hyperion idea sounded much more interesting. This probably has something to do with Guest Demand.

Market Place is the only place I like to go, so really hope they don't change it - like it just the way it is. :)

Looking at the plans, it looks like The Village Marketplace and West Side (except getting rid of Planet Hollywood) will remain the same. :thumbsup2

I miss the Adventurer's club. There was at least a vague hope that it would come back. But I realize there is a really good chance that it never will.

I am oddly enough okay with Planet Hollywood being gone.:thumbsup2

True, but the schematic overlay of the proposal makes it look as if the net gain in parking spaces will be minimal. They would be taking out huge chunks of parking to add more retail, but visually, it does not appear as if the garage will make up for all of that loss.:confused3
