Rumor: $85 a point in the Fall?

Hello you DVCers. I'm still flirting with a purchase. My guide called today to check on where I was with my decision and remind me I only had until September 14 to take advantage of the $75 pp New Yorker rate (since I contacted them before the increase.) Then she told me that there were rumblings of another price increase as early as this fall, to actually slow down sales--- BCV is almost 50% sold, and HH and Vero are "close", and they are worried about being stuck with nothing left to sell.

She seems pretty straightforward, don't think it was a heavy sales tactic (although it certainly got my attention.)

Still doubt I'll buy-- but I am considering giving dh the hard pitch --so far i have put out "feelers" that have been greeted variously with doubt, skepticism and plain old disinerest, so I haven't pushed it. But maybe it's time to make the presentation. We should have a special archive by now just for "convince my spouse to buy DVC." Can I just print them all out? :D

Wouldn't surprise me either way if the price went to $85. With HH almost sold out, and aggressive pricing for VB, and BCV selling quickly, slowing down sales might be a necessary strategy for a few months (I suspect that the DI DVC will be available for early presales much like BCV was, but that is still several months off IMHO).

We have all speculated in the past that $85 would be the next price. It makes me glad we purchased at $62.50 and $65!! Have you thought about a resale?

I guess we will see a $20 buy back for VB. That should help it finally sell out.....may even get them to look at 'the other side of the road'.....or did they sell that property?

$85 now, $88.50 or $90 in the spring, puts us on track for VEP and/or DIV to open at $100.

I am VERY interested in VEP, but not at $100/pp, Rich, you just depressed me

On an aside, our first set of points cost 55.00, our second cost 65.00 & our third was 75.00, we're done!!!

Ouch! $100 a point is just too much, IMHO. :D :D

We're very interested in VEP and DIV, but we'll be looking for ressies at the 7 month mark. Think we'll have trouble getting them???:teeth: :teeth:

I am curious...did BCV open up at a higher price than what the going point rate was?

What I am saying is did the price/pt go up to $75 before BCV started selling or after??

If EP and DI do open up at $100/pt, do you think that they will reduce the minimum number of points you buy in at to say 120, instead of 150??

I can answer that one about the $75. That's how much it cost when we bought in January. And yet, BCV were not yet available. I don't think they became available until early March. And then the rate went to $80 in June. But I don't know at what point it first went to $75.

One additional note:
The price per point goes up, but the remaining
years decreases, which makes it so much more
valuable when you bought early on.

The price went to $75 per point in June 2001. They began selling BCV in March 2002 at $75 per point but with a special incentive of either $5 off per point (keeping use of all points) or booking nights at WDW resorts. This special offer had some restrictions as to number of points that needed to be purchased. The price went up to $80 per point in June 2002, around the time BCV opened.
