I've been attempting to follow the World Cup on television. Not being very successful, as they want me to pay $20 (pay per view) to watch a game. Anyway, I have been able to follow the results and I noticed something. Why is there a separate team for England, Scotland, and Wales? Seems to me that you guys ought to combine your best talent into a UK team and clean everyone's clock.

I have a feeling that this a politically loaded question. But since I seem to be excelling at those recently, I'm delving right in.

There is a combined Great Britain and Ireland Team - called the British Lions. They only go on tour every few years or so.

The individual countries of the Great Britain compete seperately at a number of sports - football (soccer) being one.

To be honest - adding the other countries to the England team would only lower the standard of the team :)

Hi Steph - I don't think it's a political question :) Although I'm not a rugby expert, I think it works the same as in football (soccer) where Wales, Scotland and England have their own leagues or unions and within those leagues/unions they have teams which compete against each other.

Tim and I cross-posted :teeth:

Tim :eek: ! I think you'd better :duck: !

I think Tim's right - if you could find 6 guys from the other 3 home nations who'd make it into this England team I'd be surprised...

Not being nasty, just honest !

:Pinkbounc :eek: :crazy: ::yes:: :bounce:

... I am absolutely NOT going to get involved in this one!:teeth:

Mike.
