Ok, I am finishing up a dreaded task: steam cleaning my carpets. I had about 1/2 a jug of cleaner left, but I bought more just in case I ran out. Here are the labels:

OLD: 96 oz - cleans 1500-3000 sq feet. Add 2oz/4oz per gallon
NEW 64 oz - cleans 1500-3000 sq feet. Add 2oz/4oz per gallon.
And the price was roughly the same at $18.

Huh? How can you get the same yield from a bottle using the same ratio but the volume of the bottle is smaller? Must be that new fangled fuzzy math or quantum physics that I just don't understand.

I finished my carpets without opening the new bottle, so I can't compare yet. I'm thinking somebody at Rug Doctor simply copy/paste the old label and changed just the volume and nothing else!

I'm guessing they reformulated it so it takes less, like most laundry detergents have done.

I thought this too, but the instructions on the new say to use the exact same amount as the old! 64/2oz = 32 gallons of solution. 96/2oz = 48 gallons of solution. Big Difference unless my math is really messed up :)

Good point. Ok, I don't know then.
