rude emerald club agent

I probably should not admit this, but I have been known to have a back up reservation at Hertz just in case the lines were TOO long where I got the Discount. I have the Gold Club at Hertz and it works great.

My back up SAVED me the one an only time I tried L&M. (It was a holiday week and they decided to "upgrade" the cars. Cars that were a compact the week prior were now FULL size. HUH?)

You mean you lied to a supervisor and the supervisor bought your story. I agree with the previous posters keep your Hertz reservation. You could have another problem if National asks for documentation of your involuntarily being bumped.
 
I didn't lie to a supervisor!!!! I asked her how long they hold your car reservation for! I asked her how they handle late flights, bumps, etc.... She didn't think it was an unreasonable question!!! I didn't know trying to change your car reservation was a crime.

You are not being bumped, according to your posts, you are changing your times of your own accord. To tell the supervisor that you are being bumped so you can have your car held is a lie.
Did you tell the supervisor that you had changed your plans?
If not, that is a lie by omission. Do I care, nope. But, I would keep the reservation with Hertz.
 
My original reason for posting was that the national emerald club agent was very rude! The first thing I said to the agent and also the supervisor was I tried to change my car reservation and it raised the price almost triple. I hate to cancel this reservation but what do you suggest???? How do you handle people who come to pick up their car late--such as flight delay, took a bump, etc... Are these circumstances any different than trying to change the rental dates??? The emerald club agent was RUDE. The supervisor was helpful. She said, lets try to figure something out--you don't want to cancel that reservation and lose your good price. She was kind! Even if she was unable to help me, she was nice about it. The emerald club agent wasn't!
End of story!
 
I had a bad experience with Emerald Club, and will not use them again. 2 yrs ago when we checked our car in, we were charged for 1/4 tank of gas.....or something like that. When I asked the gentleman why, explained that he had a gauge that told him how much gas was in the tank. WHAT? Show me, I don't think so. He continued to argue, even after I showed him my receipt from the gas station (last exit before the airport) I had a wonderful trip and was headed home.....I did not have time to argue. As soon as I got home, I called and spoke to a Customer Service Rep that tried telling me the same thing, I asked immediately to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor apologized for the entire situation, assured me I'd have a credit back on my card, and told me they are not sure why I was told this they had no such device. Duh! I simply thanked the supervisor and explained to him that they could cancel my EC membership effective immediately. That while I appreciate everything he had done I would not choose to use National ever again because I should not have to go through all this just to make sure I'm not charged for something I shouldn't be charged for.

She told you they don't have a device to tell how much gas is in the car? Gee, I thought they put that wand thing over some gizmo they have in the gas tank and tell that way. They never go inside my car and they know how much gas I have. How do they usually tell with your car?
