Hi everyone,

This is my first time posting in this forum because you need to know that I am the absolute worst gardner/plant caretaker EVER! I had an african violet and it recently passed on. And, I couldn't revive it, even though I know that they are a very low maintainence plant. So, I need your help with my rubber tree. I also got it because we had them at work and they seem to be somewhat low maintainence.

So, here we go. My Rubber Tree's name is Scott. I named him 'cause I started talking to him and my puppy (Cookie) when I recently became a full-time homemaker (DF's idea)... anyway, I get bored and heard that you should talk to your plants and I thought he should have a name. :goodvibes

So, one day I was sitting on the couch and Cookie brought me one of Scott's leaves and I freaked out. I thought she was hurting him but it turns out, on the back side of the plant, closest to the wall, some leaves had turned orange and a couple had fallen on the ground. Later, the orange leaves also fell on the floor. I made sure Scott wasn't too close to the heater, moved him away from the window... heard that you should wash his leaves with a sponge so I did that... and the ground is somewhat moist. But, his leaves still have been falling off.

Advice pllllllllllleeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaassssssssssseeeeeeeee! :confused3

Welcome to the F&G MissLissa, sounds like your Scott was over watered. Rubber trees are hardy but they can be injured by too much water. My .02, repot it with fresh soil RAW before root damage is done. Put it back in front of the the window. As long as it's not getting too much sun (southern exposure) it should be fine. Water when it's dry. Good luck :flower:
Btw, African violets are not considered easy care. They don't like to have water on their leaves (water from below) and they don't like direct sunlight. So you're not the worst gardener ever. You sound like you have a lot of love to give your plants and that makes for a great gardener. :sunny:
