Our vacation started out at the Royal Pacific Resort for 3 nights, Club floor, and then on to WDW to meet my younger sister's family for 5 nights at the Yacht Club. We made it to the Royal Pacific, but there was a death in my immeditate family and we returned home on Sunday, August 25th. My older sister's husband died suddenly and we canceled the rest of our vacation and retunred home. I finally decided to write a little report on our thoughts about RPR and Universal, our very first vist.

The resort itself was lovely, laid out very nicely. The pool was wonderful and my boys really enjoyed it. Our room was in building 3, room number 3712, it nice and new. The room faced the pool and you could see part of Universal Studios too. The Club lounge was excellent and the food (we mostly had breakfast there) was fine for us. I had gotten the room for $139 a night so I really couldn't complain about anything. They delivered cookies and milk to our room about an hour after we arrived without my asking for it once. I wasn't going to ask because I had read that if you got a Fan Club rate, you were not entitled to this perk. We felt the rooms were small for the four of us, my sons are 13 and 16. If we were to stay there again, I would definitely get two rooms with teens. The blinking green light above the bed was annoying but the second night I used a bit of paper and some tape and covered it up. The a/c worked fine, the paper over the blinking green light (censor) made the a/c think we were in the room so it kept cool all night. I'm not a fan of this new censor idea at all. We didn't eat at the resort because we had rented a car and ventured out most of the time. We did eat lunch in the park and every place was good. We didn't have any fire alarms go off while we were there as other's reported and very little noise at night. All in all I very much enjoyed our stay at the Royal Pacific Resort and would recommend it, the front of the line can't be beat!!

RobinLyn,
SO sorry to hear about your brother-in-law.
Thank you for taking the time to post your report.

Robinlyn, sorry to here about your loss. My best to you.

We checked in to 3712 on 8/25 and wondered about that paper taped up on that thing above the bed and on the wall thermostat. Thought the room to be adequate size for our 2 adults and 2 teens, although definately NOT enough drawer or storage space.

Captbligh, LOL!! That is too funny! Now you know who put the tape on the censor light, lol. My sons where annoyed by the blinking light. They thought my idea was great and covered the thermostat too, only at night. I forgot to take the paper off before we checked out, just to funny! I was not in a good frame of mind when we left RPR. Well, did you leave the tape on the blinking light?

I personnally liked our room but we would do 2 rooms if staying there again. The four of us in one room was just not working out. I'm glad it was for your family. My two sons in one bed was not giving us much sleep. When they were smaller we could do this with no problem. The view in the room was great though! Hope you had a wonderful time.

Robinlyn, left the paper on the sensor on the ceiling (probably cuz I had no idea what the heck it was - DUH!) No wonder it was so nice and cool in our room each night! Very funny - such a small world. We had a great trip - Thanks!

RobinLyn - I am so sorry to hear of your family's loss! - It is awful to be away from home when tragedy strikes - glad your family made it home safely and quickly. DS and I also enjoyed RPR - have to check my room # -sounds like we were right above you on the 4th floor - wonderful view. Am slowly working on my trip report (reentry problems) and hope to post it soon. I know you put a lot of love and effort into the trip - hope you can retake it sometime in the future:(

Robinlyn, sorry about your BIL :( But thanks for taking the time to post your report. The rooms are much larger at PBH, you might be more comfortable there and it might beless expensive then getting two rooms next time.
That's too funny you guys had the same room! Small world!

"Thanks everyone" for your kind words and thoughts. My BIL was a very healthy looking 51 year old guy who we thought would out live us all. Since his sudden death, we found out he had a bad heart valve that he was probably born with but no one knew. A simple test would have detected this and it could have been repaired. He really had no warning when his heart valve collapsed causing a massive heart attack. So if any of you men out there have never had a complete physical please do so. It could save your life. Thanks again for all of your support!

We are planning another visit to US/IOA and WDW in May. My younger sister Sharon and her family are going to join us. Let the planning begin, again!!
