Just got back yesterday from a long weekend at RPR. We had originally booked a standard view room at Ent rate of $135.00 a nite for me, DH, and Jess our 18 y/o niece . At the last minute I called and switched the ressie to the 4th night free offer so that I could try to take advantage of a free suite upgrade certificate I received.
I was expecting the rate to be $204.00 per night but was pleasanly surprised when told it would only be $179.00. The rep said my niece would not be counted as an adult since she just turned 18. I asked the rep is she was sure about that and she said yes.
We arrived at RPR around 8pm Wednesday Sept 10th. There was no line at the check in desk so we walked right up. We were checked in by Bernadette. I gave her the upgrade certificate and asked if I could use it. She asked for a moment to check and went into the back office. When she came back she said she was able to upgrade us to an Executive Suite. We made small talk while completing the check in process. She asked if this was our 1st stay. I explained that DH and I have stayed there before but that the trip was a 18th birthday present for my niece. She hadn't been to Orlando since she was in 1st grade.
I asked if we could have a park view room. Bernadette checked and said yes and gave us room 2200. I knew that would put us on the 2nd floor with no park view and asked if she had anything on a higher floor. She said that she didn't so off we went to room 2200.
2200 was the 1st room you came to nce you exited the elevator on the 2nd floor.
Although you really couldn't see the park from this room the view was very tranquil with water, trees, and the bridge leading in to the lobby. ( You could see a small sliver of Hulk and and the top of Dr Doom)
We explored the room (see pics at bottom of post), dropped off the luggage, and headed to Citiwalk for some much needed food. After reading glowing reports of NBA City I just had to try their BBQ Chicken Pizza. Spideyhulk24 was right, the pizza is delicious.
My Dh had the ribs and niece Jess had the cheese pizza and a Butterfinger milkshake which she said was the best shake she's ever had. After dinner we wandered around Citiwalk finally stopping at the Airbrush T-shirt place across from Margaritaville. Jess knew she wanted to have a t-shirt made for a friend back home but was havinga very difficult time making up her mind about what she wanted painted on it. The artist, T-shirt Joe had the patience of a saint with her. Me? I went and got a drink next door at the new airplane bar. LOL When I came back with my Malibu and Diet Coke Jess had made up her mind so we watched Joe airbrush the design on. It was fun to watch and he did an amazing job. We paid for her shirt, threatened to come back the next day for another one and headed back to the room.
Our milk and cookies were waiting when we returned to the room. There was also another surprise waiting and this one had Jessica's name on it. Bernadette had sent up a basket full of candy with a stuffed Scooby Doo and a card wishing Jess a Happy 18th B'day from the Front Desk Staff. Jess was blown away and kept saying she couldn't believe they did that. It was a great end to our 1st day.
I took pics of the suite if anyone would like to see what it looks like.
