We just returned from a wkend trip, nights of 8/2 and 8/3.
It sounds like we paid the highest price yet, even tho we got a FL resident's rate of $139. We were in Tower 2 floor 2. The room was very nice but small. We were there only 2 nights and I felt cramped as far as luggage goes. I felt like they wasted alot of space by the door. The carved beds and chairs were pretty. I liked the overall decor. The beds are queens and slept better than my own(and better than most hotels), but then again we need a new mattress. The pillows were good and comfy too.
As far as the staff goes, they were the friendliest of any hotel I have ever been in!!! They came to us and asked if everything was ok and then stood around and talked to us w/ what seemed to be real interest and concern that we were happy guests. Of course, we had our little dog with us and he drew alot of attention, but they were very, very, very nice and never ever made us feel that we were imposing on them or other guests. One time while our children went to get a "grade A" cherry coke at the pool bar, my husband was sitting just inside the pool area by the gate w/ our dog b/t his feet under the table so as not to impose on anyone. One of the staff came up and ask us that if we took our dog into the pool area to please keep him near the gate, because many guest did not want dogs in the area and it would keep all happy this way. He said he appreciated the way we were handling our dog and we talked about his dog etc. I noticed that he stayed w/ us until we left, yet he was not imposing on us or making us feel uncomfortable. He was just very friendly. I also noticed that another staff was talking w/ a family eating at a table about 2-3 tables away. I could be wrong but I felt like the 2 staff were acting as a team. One was with us, to make sure we didn't impose on anyone and the other staff was w/ the other family so as to hedge off a possible complaint. If they were doing this ...I'm impressed w/ their planning and implementation. The thing is we had just arrived and this was our first exploration and our dogs first chance to go "out" for a doggie walk. We took him on the dog path that the checkin desk had told us about, but at this point we had not had time to read the rule about "no pets allowed in the pool area" (inside the gate/fence). So that is why this further impressed me that we were never "insulted" by telling us that we weren't following the rules. They just handled it very professionally as if we were very important people not to be offended. I appreciated that. We were never embarrassed.
:D
There were several other encounters w/ the staff when we didn't have our dog and they were always extremely friendly.
Our kids got the "grade A" drinks and the staff always were just as friendly to them even tho they were kids. My DD always got a real cherry coke and many times they would put the umbrella straws in them. She thought this was great. I guess the number of cokes she drank made up for the price we paid for the room LOL!
Now don't get me wrong I thought the $139 rate was a good rate for what we got...I'm not complaining. It's just that so many others got better rates w/ the ENT discount and we took our trip on the spur of the moment and therefore couldn't get it all together so quickly to do any better and wish we could have. We did sign up for the Loews First membership and got a bowl of fruit as we were leaving on the last day. I called at 8:30 a.m. Sun and they said the reason we hadn't gotten it was that they wait for our request that the front desk should have told us that. We got it at 12:30 and we were trying to load up and get out for our "late checkout" time. During checkin I forgot to ask for the room upgrade. However, I think w/ us having a dog that they probably put us in a certain area because of him. That's ok.
The kids loved the pool---puppy stayed in the room this time. My son thought the water cannons were a hoot and he loved nailing as many adults as he could. Of course these adults were also firing water cannons (just big kids themselves, you should've seen the glee in their eyes too!). My DD and DH loved playing water vollyball.
We did not eat at any of the resturants. I did see a sign that kids 12 and under can eat supper for $3.99. Meals there weren't timely for us and our schedule. I didn't pay much attention to any of the prices.
I loved the details of the whole hotel so if you go, take time notice them. Things seemed to run smoothly.
Checkin took 30 min. While waiting in line someone brought around a tray of drinks -- mixed pineapple and orange juice, very refreshing and a good first impression.
I like professionalism and quality, and I felt that is what we got at the Royal Pacific.
Well I told about our stay w/out regard to the sequence of events....but then again I read books by starting at the back cover and skip around so I guess that's how I tell a story... ;)

I remember the day we arrived a staff member asked if we had been there the night before during the fire-alarm. Perhaps they were doing damage-control and that is why they were so extremely friendly all the time. I would hope that it is just the nature of the hotel to be so extremely customer-oriented. They should make it a regular practice...it was so refreshing to be treated as if you really were paying the big bucks that you ARE paying!
