Set your alarm clocks! The Swan and Dolphin is going to be showing the Royal Wedding on a big screen at the resort...starting at 5AM! (thank goodness for DVR!)

I can't imagine if I was at WDW that I would get up to go watch Kate and Wills tie the knot at 5AM...or any AM really, but if anyone is interested, here are the details......

Royal Wedding to Get Big Screen Coverage at Disney Resort

The royal wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton will be shown on the big screen of a Disney resort this spring. It seems like another way for someone to cash in on the royal nuptials that are sure to draw a huge television audience around the world.

The Walt Disney World resort that will be showing the wedding is Swan and Dolphin Resort in Lake Buena Vista. They will host the event for free in order to get people through the door, and it will begin at 5 A.M. EST. That's a pretty early call for television viewing, but it takes into account what time the wedding will take place across the pond.

The wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton is going to take place on Friday, April 29, and will receive enough fanfare to make this a worthwhile venture. The resort is also reportedly going to display replicas of the 18-carat sapphire and diamond engagement ring that Price William gave her to wear. What will the replica be made of? Sugar of course. The resort's chef is going to make it into a pastry that will be on display for those attending.

This announcement is not surprising given the following that this royal engagement has generated. What will be interesting is just how many people decide that they want to roll out of bed that early to go to the resort and watch it unfold on the big screen.

No way would I get up that early on vacation! Nor am I getting up that early on a work day! As you say, glad I have a DVR!!!!

:cloud9: I fondly remember watching Princess Di and Prince Charles wedding on tv when I was a kid. It was a BIG spectacle. Of course Prince William and Kate's wedding will be a BIG spectacle in the UK. Over the years (pretty much since Diana's death), I feel that Americans have become less and less infatuated with the British Royal Family. I may record it and fast-forward, just to say I have seen it and of course to see "the dress". But, there is no way I am sitting through that whole thing. :confused3

:tinker: Jennifer

I'm gonna be up early that day for work anyway. I will be sure to watch it.

If it weren't so early, I'd have a Wedding Party at my house to watch the whole thing. :happytv:

Cool idea! but yeah, 5am is a bit early for a party. Unless.....you start the party the night before and just continue it through the morning.

I'll definitely watch the wedding, I remember watching Princess Diana's too, but I won't be getting up to watch at 5am.

Totally underwhelmed by the whole event... I will not be watching anywhere, anytime, anyplace.

I think the royal family are a complete waste of space personally, except perhaps for their own country as a tourist attraction.

Problem is that they just won't stay there. As a Commonwealth country, they just seem to cost us a complete fortune whenever they decide to visit...Republic of New Zealand anyone...?

My DSIL and I are getting up early and spending the day watching it while having scones and tea and strawberries and cream! And maybe fish and chips for lunch!

I fondly remember Charles and Diana's wedding and am thrilled for this one! Diana would be very proud of William taking his time and making sure she is the right one and can handle the pressure which Kate has done wonderfully!

TTFN :tigger:

I will be getting up to watch it. I'm a royal watcher so I can't wait!

I'm considered a "royal watcher" by some, though in actuality I have more interest in the genealogical aspect of various royal and aristocratic families. Anyway, I'm am getting so tired of hearing about this wedding though I will watch it! Of course after this wedding their will be the inevitable baby bump watch

I am keenly interested which dukedom the Queen will raise William to. One that has been suggested is Clarence, but I don't think that will be the case. The last Duke of Clarence, the eldest son of Edward VII, died prematurely of typhoid fever.

I'm avoiding all of the hype on television so as not to get totally sick of the royal wedding. I will be watching too. I'm all about the history of the British Monarchy and am enthralled by all the books on them. This is living history, no matter how you think about it, so I'm in.

I will be watching as I get the day off work to do so :goodvibes

Plus it doesn't start 'till a reasonable hour here!
