Royal Tea

I don't believe they hold spots in this one, but if someone cancels you may get in.

Sometimes it doesnt fill up prior to boarding and you may be able to pay for the experience once on board.

I have been on 3, 7-day cruises and never seen an offer for Royal Tea. Is that the Character event? Because I would not have attended if that were the case and would explain why I’ve missed it.

It is a paid event. Child cost is, uh, $200 or so?

Where do I get the offer to pay. I’ve been looking to attend a “tea” for 30 some years. I was going to attend a “tea” in Jamaica but it conflicted with an all-day dolphin excursion. If a child is $200, what’s the charge for 2 adults? What comes with that?

The links you sent are for a kids character event on the Fantasy and Dream. But no information about a Magic or Wonder event. So this is just name for a character party on the bigger ships? The smaller ones have never had one that I’ve been on. Maybe holiday sailing are to busy to accommodate the crowds? Either way I was looking for finger sandwiches and an assortment of interesting tea. I’m thinking “this is not my cup of tea.”:rotfl2:

The second link says it expanded to the Dream, Wonder & Magic in Sep 2016.

Time was Palo had an afternoon tea, but it was discontinued some time ago in favor of expanding brunch hours.

That’s what I’ve been looking for the Palo afternoon tea.

I do not believe unaccompanied adults are welcome at Royal Tea. The food is not really finger sandwiches or tea, either...

If you want a tea experience, you may need to look into Holland America. They do different tea services:

Take Time for Tea
For Holland America Line, tea time is as much about time as it is about tea — time to sit with friends, time to talk and time to savor. Several types of tea services are offered onboard including daily casual tea, Royal Dutch High Tea, Cupcake Tea and Indonesian Afternoon Tea, and all offer different pastries and tastes.

That is what I was unsure about. I knew that the Magic and the Wonder had a tea in Palo and I wanted to go but my husband said that a dinner at Palo was enough. I knew there was an age limit so now that my daughter is 18 I wanted to go with her. But if this is a character meal, she had little interest after age 8.

The Royal Tea is for children age 12 and under and an adult or two. The cost is close to $300 for a child and adult. It is one of the options under "onboard fun" when you sign up for activities online. I believe it is on all ships now. I took my DGD, then age 4, on the May 2017 EBTA. Each girl was individually announced and escorted to her seat, followed by individual time with each princess as well as several gifts from the Princesses including a jewelry box, charm bracelet and charm from each, autograph book, and a Cinderella doll similar to American Girl dolls. A photo was taken and a large print in a folder arrived before the end of the cruise. Although costly, it is one of the more memorable expenditures of $300 I have made. Alas, it is not for adults nor is the food, while good, up to the standards of a true tea that adults would be looking for.

I did the Royal Court Tea with my 3.5 year old daughter in November on the Fantasy. It was $270 in total. My daughter loved every minute of it! Definitely not enough food on the table for it to be considered tea for the adult and child. I think I had one finger sandwich and one scone. The table is usually 6-8 people, and they put on tea tray on the table. Each child also gets a cupcake, and the adults get one scone. They really could do better with the food. But, much like a character dining at WDW, you aren't really paying for decent food, your paying for experience, and in this case the gifts. My daughter received a musical jewelry box, charm bracelet, charm necklace (and each princess gave a charm), autograph book, autograph pen and a large Cinderella Doll with a Royal Court Tea Sash. The next day, we received a large folio with a picture of my daughter with all the princesses inside. To me, this is a one time event. We won't do it on our next cruise, because all the gifts will be the same anyway.
