Royal Plaza by DTD - BAD experience

How about we just close this thread and get back to our regularly scheduled programming?

OH! THANK-YOU SO MUCH MYSTERIA! For a moment I thought the whole world had gone quite mad! If you're a woman, I could kiss you! If you're a guy ... ehh ... hopefully settle for a drink?!? :thumbsup2 :lmao:

Bedbugs are NOT invisible and if the hotel staff is cleaning the room and changing the bedding in between guests like they should be then they should notice them! Once again ... Google bedbugs, click on the images tab and LOOK what we're talking about!

And let me reiterate ... if they aren't cleaning rooms and changing bedding in between guests ... THAT IS DISGUSTING!

As a person who has had a bedbug incident, I totally agree with you. We paid big bucks to rent a house in Key West and we weren't even there 6 hours and figured out we had bed bugs. The mangement company had the nerve to say we brought them. I'm sorry but for the number of bed bugs we had in the room and the size of them...we did not bring them. We would have had to bring at least 2 gallon zip locks full of them. We traveled on the same airplane and rental car as my sister and brother-in-law and they didn't have them. Ugh...it makes my skin crawl just thinking about them. I check every hotel room before I enter. There are tell-tale signs. And I'm sorry a hotel should be on top of this...they should make sure they do everything to combat the issue.

So back on topic...I am supposed to be at a conference in June at the Royal Plaza. Where would some suggest that I should stay...within walking distance and that would offer government per diem!

For the final time ... and as simply as I can put it ...

I never said that bedbugs were not a big problem in the industry ... they are.

As big of a problem as bed bugs are in the industry I still stand by my statement that every hotel in the industry is not infested and will continue to do so until I see a study stating that EVERY hotel everywhere is infected.

Ed J ... you talk about me not reading what others actually write and you are right beside me because you are missing the point that I was trying to make.

I simply said that bedbugs were unacceptable ... I never said they weren't a problem. We should not have to settle for it and when you make the comment that bedbugs are an industry wide problem with NO apparent condemnation then that sounds, to me anyway, like you are telling us to just accept it and move on.

I'm sorry but I think it is a "reasonable expectation" to get a room that is clean and does not have bugs in it ... I never once thought that something like that would be setting the bar too high or expecting too much for a hotel. But you tell me ... am I being unreasonable?

Let me ask ... why should I, as a just arrived guest, be put into a room that has bedbugs? Did they clean the room? Did they change the bedding? Since we all agree that bedbugs are a big problem ... shouldn't they be actively looking for it so they can eradicate them immediately???

There should be outrage and disgust with these hotels and not a blazay acceptance of it. For the price we pay and with how prevalent bedbugs are they should be going over those rooms with a fine toothed comb between guests.

Anyway ... I know we won't see eye to eye so, like I said previously, we will have to agree to disagree.

Disney Diehard/Frank...I agree with you 100%!!!!!!

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. :sad2: I guess I got off easy. No bed bugs, however, we had a wash cloth mishap I will NEVER forget. Makes me sick to my stomach just thinking about it. I took the washcloth down to the front desk. Management, of course, acted like it wasn't a big deal. They offered us a free breakfast which we had included in our rate already. They offered nothing else, no discount, nada. Since that experience, I bring my own loofah from home and carefully inspect each towel before use. :rotfl: That hotel is a definite NO GO for me.

Who could have guessed that bed bugs could cause such a stir on this thread. :rotfl2: Try Embassy Suites or any Hilton . You should be able to get your per diem there.

I guess we got lucky. We stayed for a few nights in May and had a good experience. The room was nice, clean and big. We really enjoyed the pool and the surrounding grounds, as it was more "resort style" than most other hotels.

As for bedbug, we stayed at 9 different hotels on our last trip (4 during commute, 3 in Orlando and 1 on each FL coast) and didn't have a problem. Good thing, too, because I forgot to check for them. They sound horrible though, so I will be sure to check on our next trip.

I've never stayed there, but I do enjoy eating at the Girraff restaurant. However, I'm re-thinking about going back. If the hotel is so uncared for, there could be a problem in the kitchen. I hope I'm wrong.

:thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 I am just grabbing your last post, as I TOTALLY AGREE with ALL of them!!! It is not acceptable..ANYWHERE!! I agree that every room should be checked while cleaning.
And to original poster....THANK you for posting this. I dont care if its first, second or third person- if its that bad... I want to hear. This is a hotel endorsed by many websites, that I have looked at, and considered. I will not look any further. I am not sure we will ever stay off property, but have considered it, and now will cross this off!!!
