We stayed at the Royal Pacific the second year it was opened. The room was not clean, the food mediocre and the management, well, just out of school. The setting and location were nice - Just hope it's gotten a bit better.

That's a shame :sad2: that your first visit wasn't as good as it could have been. I hope you will give the RPR another chance and not let that one & only visit keep you away. We have stayed at the RPR four times now and have never had a problem. This year we are staying at the PBH and I hope we will like it as much as we like the RPR.

Hi NH, I am originally from Manchester, moved to TN 8 years ago, still miss home( even the snow)
Back to the post, we stayed at PBH concierge once in 2005 and had a horrible experience, it was our one and olny time venturing off WDW property, very open to trying something new, first class. Someone had smoked profusely in our room ( smelled like they had partied) my husband has asthma, they refused to move us, siad there was nothing available, finally 8 hours later, brought up one of those machines to help with the odor, and just dropped it in our room while we were out to eat didn't even start it up. We complained to a manager the next day who moved us to a handicapped accessible room with no view, no compensation, then the rest of our trip they kept kicking us out of the concierge lounge ( even though we paid that rate and were told we had the access) because our room # didn't match ( very embarrassing each time):sad2: . I complained when we were there and when we got back, with nothing but a sorry, hope you try us agin email. The answer is never, I am back to WDW to stay. The only worthwhile thing was the FOTL benefit.

I have now stayed at RPR 5 times in the past 7 months and everytime has been great.

They opened that hotel 7 years ago, 2002.
if you went in 2003, a lot has changed since then.

there were a lot of issues when they first opened but eventually, most things were cleared up.

the last time i stayed at RPH was 3 years back and have a ressie for it again later this year.

if you have plans to stay there again, i do hope it is better for you.

I have had equally bad service at WDW as well but I sure am glad I decided to return! Now that I spend almost equal time at each resort destination per year, I must say I get better customer service at Universl resorts. I am not saying service is bad at WDW resorts, just better at US Loews resorts. JMHO

we stayed at RPR in october 08 and we didnt like it at all - we normally stay at HRH and found the rooms to be alot smaller it felt like we were on top of each other - we had ordered room service one afternoon and they tray remained in the hallway until the next afternoon even though we had evening turndown service - we are going back for HHN again this year and back to the HRH for us - i want to try PBH but cant swing it this year maybe next year

This year will be our 4th stay at RPR, and cannot fault anything about the resort.
Management and staff are all very friendly, and nothing is to much trouble.
We are also going back to PBH for the last week of our stay, its also a lovely resort, the SS rate was not available at RPR for that week , so we took it as it was at PBH.

So you stayed at the RPR 5 years ago and just now felt the need to complain about it??

:grouphug:

I hope you feel better.

We have stayed at all three and RPR is always been our fav..
We look forward to staying there every year..
Never had any major complaints that managment did not take care of!!!:thumbsup2

We stayed at RPR for the first time last year and found no problems everyone from front desk to maids were great and helpful and even when we couldn't find something even the bellhop helped us .
DW loved it so much we are staying 7 days this june .

We had a small issue at RPR this past October but they helped us out right away, they were very helpful. The problem was resolved in an appropriate and timely manner!! :thumbsup2
I hope that you will give it a try again, a lot can change in 5 years .:goodvibes

You'll like it better :rolleyes1 DH always said he didn't want to stay at PBH strictly because of the distance (in comparison to the other 2 hotels). Well, after our stays last year there, he proclaimed it his fave now.

We've stayed at all 3 also.... We love the PBH, then RPR, then HRH. It's really a matter of personal preference I think. But, most stay onsite for the FOTL privelege anyhow, so I don't think it really matters which hotel (unless you DO spend a lot of time in your room).

We love RPR. The club level is fantastic. :woohoo: The FOTL makes it easy to stay in bed in the morning and not rush around. This is the second time we have stayed here and have only had one issue...Poor service at Jake's Restaurant. :confused3

We are DVC members but try to get visit Universal every few years. Love those roller Coasters:eek:

Also a big hello to all granite staters.;) And a special hello to the long time Disboard lurker but now poster Belle67. You finally are one of us!: up2

I find it odd that you would post about an experience that happened 5 years ago:confused: Many new service businesses (hotels, restaurants, etc.) take a little while to get the "kinks" out. From the mostly excellent reviews on RPR on these forums, trip advisor, etc. RPR seems to be loved by many. It would be a shame not to give it another try after so many years. Again, I guess I just don't understand the reason for the post....I'm a little dense sometimes

Just got back from the RPR yesterday and I must say that we had no difficulties. We got our King Suite upgrade as promised with our free internet, our credit (which turned out to give us a dinner at Islands, one breakfast and pizza at Sal's deli in Portofino.) We got great service, great turn down service and the room was clean. The pullout bed was not the comfiest but they brought up 4 extra blankets to help with the padding. Our room was ready when we got there and we received an extension on our check-out.

I would not hesitate to stay there again.

damo, sounds like it was a winner!

glad you had a great room.
this is very encouraging for others planning a stay there.

So, with the platinum credit, you DON'T have to use it at the hotel you are STAYING at?? You can use any onsite hotel restaurant?

you can use the credit at pbh or rph.

i called loews last night and asked where the $100 credit would be allowed for food and drink.
