I'm back once again at Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando, which has undergone a major redecoration. The "dark" wood accented rooms that some people complained about (but which I rather liked) are no more. In the place of the more subdued palette are light pastels that still evoke the South Seas. Very nice and soothing.

Other new items: flat screen TVs and iPod docks in place of the old CD players. Gotta keep up with technology!

We're booked into the Club level and were upgraded to a gi-normous suite -- 1,600 square feet. Sweet!

Here's the food service schedule in the Club Lounge:

Continental Breakfast 7 to 10:30
Afternoon Snacks noon to 4:30
Evening Relaxation 5 to 7
Something Sweet 8 to 9:30

The breakfast buffet is lavish, with hot oatmeal and gooey cinnamon buns. Yum.
Although we didn't indulge, many people seemed to be making a meal of the hors d'oeuvres served from 5 to 7.

Gracious, friendly staff, as always.

Of the three Club lounges, I like RPR best for some reason. Can't quite put my finger on it, but the curved space overlooking I-4 and I-Drive just seems to "work."

good to hear that dark plastic fake wood has been replaced to something light!

Hi there we are going on thursday for two weeks can you tell me if it is wi-fi now as on another post someone said internet was now free

:confused3

New to the US thread and thinking of RPR in March instead of disney. Is the continential breakfast free? What is there besides oatmeal and cinnamon buns? I was reading on the website about the continential but it doesn't say anything about free? Also what room requests are better then others? Do they always give you your requests or is it random like disney? Sorry for all the questions????

Do you have any pictures to post?

This is my families first return to UO in about three years after TWO visits to the PBH!!! At first I was disappointed that we would not be returning and instead would be staying at the RPH. But now after looking at sites/posts/etc about the hotel, I am equally excited.

Hope you enjoy!

Breakfast is not free. The OP stayed in club level. You can request rooms by calling before you go.

the buffet breakfast at the hrh and the rph are $16.95.
i know pbh has one but i haven't eaten at that one yet.

it's a hit or miss with room requests for the most part.
if the room is not blocked out in advance, you have a good shot of getting your wish.
requesting a floor is a lot easier to get anytime.

I took a bunch of pictures of the suite, but I'm not sure how to post them.

For that matter, I'll have to root through my luggage to see if I have the cable to transfer them to the laptop! :sad1:

Ah, a pic of the huge giant credenza drawer thing with the fridge.

Boy did I hate that thing. It took up way too much space in the room.

Wow! I hope we luck out and get upgraded too!! We are going to be there Saturday night! Glad to hear they have ipod docks, so I don't have to bring my charger!!! Thanks for the update. One question- what time do they start serving coffee in the morning? 7? & what time does the Alcohol START!

Hi Mr. Monaghan!

I have to say it's a little weird to learn that the author of the book I've been reading for months was at the hotel the same time as my family. It's probably a good thing I didn't know or I would have called your room whenever I had a question. :rotfl:

We stayed at the RPR for the National Scrabble Championship last weekend. I bought your book for myself for Mother's Day. Ha! It was so refreshing to get good info about US/IOA instead of the afterthoughts usually included with Disney travel guides. This was our first trip to Florida and we're already planning another trip to HRH club level next year!

Thanks for your helpful book. I hope the royalty helped pay for your trip.
