Royal Me This, Royal Me That ~ Disney in December, How About That? *Update 6-1* P26

I must confess that I would never be able to be patient while your mom got ready -- I am a get up and go kind of person. I don't even have patience when it comes to waiting on Charles to get ready. :rotfl:

Can I just say it again: I cannot wait to walk to Epcot from my resort this summer!!! Your TR is doing wonders for my resolve.

I am so proud that you are going to try Soarin'. I hate heights, but Soarin' is my favorite ride in Epcot. I could ride it all day long!

The best part was that one of the channels in the room played great, old Disney cartoons with Mickey and the fab five, so HRH was totally entertained. But no joke, at a certain point, he'd be looking around like where's my stroller and let's get out of here. :lmao:

My evil plans are coming to fruition. Keep CP at the Beach Club.

You will stay at the Beach Club. :::waves Jedi hand:::

;)

I think you'll all be quite proud of me. And HRH. :goodvibes

My friend, I can TOTALLY feel for ya waiting and waiting on folks to get ready! :lmao: And with people looking perfect before they will go to the parks. :lmao: Good grief. :confused3

I really, really wanted to try Soarin! But we never made it to Epcot...that was our "sick" day... But when we go back...we are SO going there! :)

Good update!

I forgot about that with Lauren!

Nothing wrong with wanting to look nice. Hey, I wear makeup in Disney. But it takes me about five minutes. And a quick blow dry to the hair, throw it in a ponytail get dressed and GO GO GO!

I even tried to broach the subject of us meeting up, ie not waiting for each other in September...

how that went over should probably be a whole post on my ptr. :lmao:

I think you'd love it.

I got so sick of waiting for my teen DDs last year that I started leaving them in front of the mirror every morning while DD4 and I would go and make the rope drop... it drove me crazy! :headache:

I couldn't have just left my mom though... the drama wouldn't have been worth it...

I hope you loved Soarin'!

I totally, totally understand.

Belive me.

There's a lot of "It's a FAMILY trip." As in must do things together. Except when I insist on eating places that Mom and Nana would not dare venture. Hee hee. All part of the master plan. :lmao:

And I don't mean to sound so maniacal. I do love them, but seriously, you should never spend every waking second with anyone in your group on vacation. It's just too much.

I hope you loved Soarin'!

:thumbsup2

Oh, I am nervously awaiting the next update---hoping that HRH can make it through the day okay!!!

Hi there...just jumping in. I've only gotten to the slipper part on page ?2. But, I am right there with you on that...there is NOTHING like a good pair of slippers after a day at the parks!!! We were there at the same time as you. Looking forward to catching up with the rest of your report!:surfweb:

Hi!

And :welcome:

Thanks so much for jumping right in! Didn't you love seeing all the parks and hotels decorated for the holidays? So beautiful! :goodvibes

I'm finally all caught up!! So I learn a lot of lessons about parenting while reading these TRs and your advice would be to bring DumDums to Disney with me GOTCHA LOL!!!!:rotfl:

How exciting that you and HRH got to ride Soarin...can't wait to hear all about that.

The one good thing about this solo trip...I'm not going to have to wait on anyone in the mornings and that is a good thing because I'm a morning person while my Prince is not LOL!!!

It just so happens that this is one of HRH's little pleasures. That boy loves him a good lollipop. And there's now way I'm going to buy him one the size of his head. He never, ever finishes those. So Dum Dums it is! Plus they have great flavors.

That's so nice! :goodvibes

I'm FINALLY caught up with your TR...love it!!! When you write, I can truly envision the scene...your first day seemed so magical!!! I could really feel how you felt...maybe because I had that same feeling. The Osborne lights were amazing. That day was just perfect weather-wise. I don't know if there is anything better than Disney at Christmas. I also need to make a ressie at Hollywood Brown Derby...sounds YUMMO!!! Well, can't wait to read more...and see if we cross paths, at some point. On Dec 7th, also our day #2, we started at MK, and ended up at Epcot for dinner, and Illuminations. I'm thinking that your DS probably didn't make it to Illuminations if he was up at 5:30am but, you never know. Could you really watch Illuminations from your room? Wow!!! No need to worry about DS if that was the case.

First of all, thank you SO much for the wonderful compliments on my writing! It warms my heart to think I can really bring you there with me. :goodvibes

Second, oh my goodness! If you were in Epcot that day / night, it is HIGHLY probably that I could have walked past you at any point. A little spoiler for everyone, but we were in Epcot all day long. And for a good portion of the evening. Isn't that funny?

I'm hoping to update again this weekend, I hope you enjoy it. :goodvibes

Well, where else would be the best place to head? With bellies full, and rides to go on, and knowing what kind of a mood HRH had been in, I opted for something safe.

Something fun.

Something known.

But before we get to that, let me just throw in some photos of Epcot that for some reason didn't make it into the last post. :lmao:

Seeing these last two lit up at night was amazing. I took a photo of the first one, and it came out better than the second. Just something for you to look forward in the upcoming discourse. Now, where were we?

Oh, yes, royal subjects.

We headed our royal patoots right over to Figment. :figment:
How well I remembered the look of awe on HRH's face during this ride when we went on in September. And I wanted to share that look with my mother. Because although we've gone to Disney together with HRH, the reactions change every year, and never before had they been so cognizant of what they were taking in, so awed by the magic of it all. Sure, he'd enjoyed these things when he was younger, but now it was so...different. :goodvibes

Well, Mom had the great idea of taking pictures of every ride we took him on. For example, we would pose in front of the sign for the ride, and then Mom would take a picture of just the exterior, or something like that, so we could easily scrapbook and remember what we'd done later. That and my little trip journal I kept, and we were solid on what we'd done. And it's nice to know that we'll be able to tell HRH your first ride on this trip was such and such.

Nana2008-227.jpg

In this case, Figment. And boy did he love it. Just as much if not more than before. He loved going on the ride, loved finding Figment, and loved looking around the queue as we headed in. Of course, there was no line...is there ever a line for Figment? That was really nice.

And then, HRH had a GRAND old time in the Imagination Lab. He ran over to that area where the instruments light up on the floor when the kids jump on particular spots and he just ran around and had so much fun. Now that I'm writing this, it makes me think of Heidi and wonder if Liam spent any time there. (If not, that's a great place for him to blow off some steam for future reference.) Boy, did Mom and Nana and I have a great time just watching him. I mean, we must have spent a good fifteen minutes there at least, just watching him run and jump and hop all over the place. We took lots of pictures, just priceless.

Of course I was really worried about how we were going to navigate our way through the dump shop. I didn't have DH to be the ultimate in distraction. Fortunately, something else presented itself.

The Pressed Penny Machine.

In all my life, I've never used one of these. But HRH showed a little interest, and I thought, why not. There are worse things to collect. Now he may not have really known what to expect, but given his love of Figment and all his fun in the Imagination Lab, I wanted to get one for him. They had three options, and one was Figment, so we were game. I scrounged up some change, let him press the button, and voila! A Figment penny. We put it in my wallet for safekeeping, where it's actually remained to this day. Eventually, when I make a scrapbook of the trip for him, it'll go in there. But for now, it's a sweet little reminder of my boy's happiness every time I look for change. :cloud9:

I believe at this point, we were all feeling pretty good, but I was quite sure how I was going to get him past the c-a-n-d-y. :sad2: Fortunately, on the way out, he was distracted by those photo machines, and didn't even notice.

PHEW!!! :thumbsup2

We decided to check out the line for Spaceship Earth, but deemed the line too long for our tastes.

As in we're so spoiled, we like to walk on to this one and any kind of wait just turns us off. Plus, I wasn't down for any kind of wait with HRH. We decided to head over to Nemo, but that line was even worse.

And cute as it is, there was NO WAY I was waiting for that ride. And truthfully, we had more fun outside. That boy loves those seagulls. Say it with me, "Mine! Mine, mine...mine!" We took some pictures in front of there and just let him admire it for a bit.

Now HRH started falling into the same old pattern of September. As in that boy has built in cart radar. So every time we passed one, he wanted something, and although I had indulged him at breakfast, I wasn't in the mood to feed him carp all day long. Let's keep in mind he'd had part of a chocolate cake, part of my cinnamon bun, and a lollipop. I mean the nutritional value there is just astounding, right? :lmao:

We all decided to get a pretzel at one of the carts near Figment before we headed back to ride Soarin'. We sat on a bench together, and split two pretzels among the four of us. As in, HRH had his own, and Mom and Nana and I split the other. I wasn't terribly hungry, but I can't pass up a nice, salty pretzel from the World. :goodvibes

Up Next - What did we think of Soarin'?

Let's just say that I know actually where and what you are describing....:rolleyes1

Oh, what a lovely morning!!! I bet your mom and nana loved being able to just watch HRH -- grandmothers eat that stuff up!

Speaking of eating, I would love one of those pretzels right now.

Hee hee.

:::whispers::: I caught the secret code. ;)

Oh, they did just love it!

And aren't those pretzels divine? My favorite though, is from the cart in Germany. Those are awesome. :goodvibes

I am caught up yeah! Love your trip report, can't wait to read more. We will be at Disney from the 4th to the 15th in Dec and your kind of scareing (don't think I spelled it right) about the crowds. We went 2 years ago, same dates and the parks weren't crowded at all. We do avoid the parks on the weekends though.
