This story freaked me out.
I have a 1 year old dog who had a kidney infection after her spaying last summer, so she already has impaired kidney function (she recovered and seems healthy now, but they don't know how much permanent damage was done). She also has allergy issues so I just switched her to Natural Balance a few weeks ago when our local store started carrying it and they were sold out of her regular food. Of course, DH and I stood there looking at all the varieties and ended up coming home with Venison and Brown Rice.
When it was recalled, I was in shock. We just switched (from Royal Canin) and we just happened to pick the one kind that was recalled to feed to a dog that already has kidney issues! We went to the store that night and exchanged it - I ended up getting another kind of Natural Balance (Sweet Potato & Fish) because they were still out of her other food, so I really hope they're right about no other kinds being affected.
The only good thing is that she seems fine - very active, no vomiting. She was at the vet 2 weeks ago for shots and annual exam - we just happpened to recheck her kidney values at that appointment, and they were better than they had been since before she was spayed. She was also back at the vet a week later because she had developed a lump a her vaccine site, and she still weighed exactly the same.
