Roxymama's 5k to Marathon, Time to Collect Another Castle

OMG why is that picture of my head so large. GAH! I'll figure out how to re-size that puppy.

Congratulations! You keep getting stronger and keep crushing it. Way to go! A full minute off your time is awesome and the fact that it wasn't even a "let's do this!!!!" type of day speaks even more highly of where you are versus where you were. Kudos!

I'd agree on not changing your training paces, because EEEEK only 3 weeks to go! Want to take a guess what your current fitness level would have predicted for a 5K at "Full Beast Mode"????

Wait for it....

Wait for it.....

A 27:57! So not only did you beat the predicted time, but you did it without needing a full 100% effort to do it. Your relaxed I got this attitude propelled you to a new height! Way to go! So then what does this mean for your upcoming 15K? You're right on track and doing perfectly! Still under ideal conditions right there for a sub 1:30 finish! You got this! Proud of you! Now go conquer this week!

I thought I commented on this but I guess not.
I'd have told you last week zero chance at 27:57. No way Jose! Mostly because 9:42 on the treadmill right now feels so fast to me still. So now I guess now gotta keep believing in myself which is by far harder than any tempo run. But "trust the spreadsheets" right? :)

OMG!!! Congrats!! It's always nice to have a day when things just work ... and for it to be a day when you weren't even aiming for a PR ... that's awesome!
Yeah, part of me wonders if I actually had a plan to try that if it would have happened! But it did. Now can it stay this weather for just three more weeks???

Teach me how to do makeup plz. Pretty!!

Haha, ok...I'm particularly skilled at colors that work for redheads :)
It's funny that you all basically see me bare faced with running, because painting my face is one of my fave things to do when I have excess time to actually do it. Learned everything from dance friends way back when. Who wants to guess how many lipsticks I currently own? Maybe I should go count them!

So I went into the Hot Chocolate website to update my proof of time back on Sat. for hubby and me, just to give me any advantage (because it could be very cold depending on what Chicago decides to be like race day.) It may not be, but better safe than sorry. They just released our corral assignments. I do not know if my corral was assigned based on the old or new proof...but it's good!

I'm in Corral B out of A-R. Hubby made it into D. Sweeeeet! So gonna have to be real careful not to go out too fast, but at least I won't have to wait in the bitter cold (if it decides to be bitterly cold.) Here's the released corral map pdf attached for everyone who likes maps.

This is a 40,000 person race between the three distances (3k, 5k, 15k.) Last year I was in corral C for 5k and when I finished they were still releasing corrals, so this is a real good thing. :)

Are you a broadway fan? I just saw Hedwig (by myself!) and it was amazing! Didn't know what to expect from Darren Criss, but he was great! But anytime Lena Hall opened her mouth you were just drawn to her. I could have watched the show every night.

I love Broadway show, but unfortunately haven't been able to actually see one on Broadway. I always have to wait for them to tour and come to Minnesota. Luckily I have a friend that can get me tickets early and at a discount. I'm dying waiting for both Hamilton and Hedwig to come here, among others.

:woohoo:

Stopping in ... I'm so glad to see y'all had a fun date night! And I'm SOOOOO jealous - I need a full "Hamilton" report STAT.

OK REPORT STAT! I've never listened to the Hamilton soundtrack before going to see the show. I've only seen the performance on the Tony's (which was awesome) and various segments of Lin Manuel Miranda rapping on the Tonight Show. So although I knew some stuff about the play and about Hamilton from history...I was blown away by the whole thing once I actually saw it live. I am glad I waited to see it before listening to it (although I was tempted to listen to the whole thing leading up to it.)
Our seats being one behind each other ended up being totally fine because I'd turn around during cool parts and Chris would give me a thumbs up, but it'd be fun to catch him grooving in his seat when I'd turn around. Hopefully I wasn't bugging the people next to him.
I'd say the left side of the stage and a little of the upper portion was hard to see because we were under the balcony, but all the main action happened where we could see just fine.
The lead playing Hamilton was short...which at first caught me off guard because I'm used to the promo pics of the NYC Lin Miranda guy. But man could he rap and sing. So we had a shortie lead, but a powerful shortie. I don't think there was a weak link in the cast. The girl who played the wife was from American Idol a few seasons back and she had a powerhouse voice. I want to live in the green dress she wore, but only if I lose 25 lbs and remove the corset part. The guy who played King George may have been my favorite of the show. Really funny delivery. There was some moments I could hear crowd people singing along, which happened back when I saw Wicked, so you could tell there are Hamilton groupies. I was hooked as soon as they did the first Aaron Burr song and I realized that there would be no speaking, that they'd be rapping singing or using spoken word poetry. Once I realized that I was like "Oh man, I'm gonna like this." I liked that it was funny, but also very serious, and at times a little emotional.
I think every kid in high school needs to go see it. We will have a special about it on PBS at the end of this month so I've already added it to my DVR. Check your public station too!!!
Thank you so much for giving me the chance to see it...I loved it so much more than I expected to. And pretty much think it somehow helped me go crazy and PR the next morning.
The funniest part was the older, white couple "rapping" in the elevator in the parking garage about trying to find their ticket.
It will be in Chicago now until next September 2017 and maybe longer...so COME TO CHICAGO...I WILL SEE IT AGAIN!! haha

Me too. I'm so jealous. I think I listen to that soundtrack in its entirety at least once a week.

Guilty now...its on spotify and I may listen to it frequently as well.

I love Broadway type musicals but I've never been to real Broadway in NYC. I do see a Broadway in Chicago or travelling company maybe once every couple of years. Darren Criss was good on Glee (I only watched that every now and then when it was on) and I'd love to see him live. I don't get as into traditional plays or operas, but love me a Musical!! Still have never seen the Lion King and I need to one day.
I saw Legally Blond the musical and sang it for like a year in my car.

No NYC for me either. But I've youtubed the original Broadway cast and they are really really good, but I'd say the Chicago cast was also very good. So I don't feel like there was that big of a dip in talent.

Ok and now something totally different. I ordered my first InknBurn shirt (@Ariel484 is to blame) after stalking it for a week. Your tips on ordering it worked by the way Ariel, I received an email a minute ago from them.
So the reason I got obsessed with it your will see in this picture.

It reminds me of the DL castle colors and sky at dusk which is when I might be passing through it on Tink weekend. So I'm kind of thinking I need some blue or pink wings and some matching shorts or skirt or capris. So not a literal lime green Tink, more of a Disneyland castle inspired fairy :) Yaaaaaaaaay

Woohoo!! Like I said via PM, I totally did not realize that this top matches Sleeping Beauty Castle. I love it even more now!

I need to see Hamilton. How can I make this happen? :scratchin

Oh I don't know, sign up for a Chicago race next year (this year would be harder to get tix), come to Chicago, that seems like a good plan. Or hopefully it will come to somewhere in the OH eventually, but that's not as fun for me.

Thanks for the reminder about the PBS special. I will have to set it up to record on my DVR. I should be able to watch it but my parents are coming into town that night and may make me miss all or part of it.

Spotify is where I listen to it. I have several songs on my running play list.

The touring version will be in Cleveland during the 2017-2018 season, but sadly, for me, the closest to Minneapolis they are scheduled is Des Moines.

Definitely considering it! :scratchin

Soooooo jealous! But happy you got to see it! The Hamilton soundtrack has been on pretty much *NON-STOP* (hehe see what I did there?) since last October and I may or may not have purchased a few home decorations that are Hamilton related on Etsy. Hamilton will be in San Francisco next year so I think that will be *My Shot* (OK I'll stop now) to see it! Happy you saw a good cast!

Also a huge congratulations on your PR!!!

Thanks for mentioning the Hamilton special. My husband is a huge fan. My sister in law was fortunate to watch one of the last shows with Lin Manuel and she said it was amazing. I've only seen a few shows on Broadway, but I think the national touring ones are great too.

@disneydaydreamer33 did you get SHN season tickets to ensure tickets to Hamilton? We really considered it. Not sure how you feel about Hedwig, but as I mentioned before, the show was fantastic! A completely different vibe from most musicals. Take a listen to some of the songs (origin of love, wicked little town, long grift), they're total ear worms.
