Router Help for the DVC Internet challenged

I bought a router from my friend so I could keep it in my Owner's Locker. How in the world do I set it up? I can't get my laptop to recognize it. I would hate to be wired this entire vacation but that is what it is looking like. Thank you for your help!

Was this a used router? - if so, it's possible that your friend might have set it up as password protected so you'd need to have that info if that's the case or else just reset it to the default setting (hold down the reset button for 30 seconds to reset the default). I brought my linksys from home on vacation last year. The signal picked up on my laptop immediately because it was setup at home. For my friend, I had to give her my password for hers to connect.

Here is another question because I didn't think of this before..........

I didn't bring a modem with me just a router. Is this even going to work?

Most laptops have a built-in modem. You will really need a wireless network adapter (also included in most laptops). If yours does not, you'll need to use the hardwire.

I have a modem. I think I may have bought a lemon. It isn't connecting at all. It was worth a try right?

It's actually a network adapter you will need to have installed and you may also need to setup a network. You can do that thru the network setup wizard thru the control panel.

you need the drivers for your PC. I have this router and it has since been replaced due to no more Tech support for this product. you will need a "cheap" wireless router.
