Round trip from Ottawa

Hi gang,

We usually fly out of Syracuse but my son will be flying in from school in Windsor (so Detroit) and we'll meet at Disney. So different plans this year...

I am exploring direct flights from Ottawa... AC has a very early flight on December 16th for $319 for me and West Jet has a return flight for us (son is coming home with me) for $308 each which is a late flight on December 26th. Both flights are perfect timing to maximise Disney time! Woot! Do these seem like okay(ish) prices? Because I am limited on direct flight options I am afraid of losing these options. I need direct flights due to an inner ear problem.

Last year I spent $685 CAN + $250 for parking and gas out of Syracuse with JetBlue. So just over $900. I am tired of the hassle and 3 hour drive each way in risky winter weather. Plus this year I would have to drive one way on my own. Bleck.

Any advice you could provide would be much appreciated.

In 2014 we flew on WestJet early December and our flights were in the $480(rt) range. I've seen prices for this year be anywhere from high 400's to low 600's. Given that you are flying a few weeks closer to Christmas than I was I'd say that's probably as good as you're going to get. There aren't many direct flights out of Ottawa so you might want to grab one that works for you while you can get it.

I'm going again this December, booked the flights in March. The direct flight I booked with AC has no more room now (and we're still 4and a half months out).

I'm not sure if you've already joined or not but I figured I'd mention that WestJet Rewards regularly send out sales emails (most recent was a 25% off plus fares for Dec which we took advantage of.)

Don't sweat it. The plus fare for your date of Dec 16 is $619.53 at a saving of 25% it would have been $464.65. You got a much better rate than that with A/C.

Sorry I didn't mean to suggest you didn't get a good deal/flight. My suggestion was intended more about signing up for promotions with the airlines since they generally all offer specials, early booking deals, etc... to those that join their mailing lists/programs. That may not have been clear in my post. A month ago Westjet offered non-plus sales as well -- it just so happened that the recent one was for Plus (which was what I was waiting for.) There have also been AC, Southwest, and Transat specials as well.

I've signed up with all the airlines so that I know about the specials before I need to book.
