DD7 has had an awful week. :sad2: It all started on Monday with having 2 baby teeth extracted to get ready for braces. She still has a slight bruise from that today. Tuesday is allergy shot day. Wednesday-coughing, drainage, etc. felt really bad. Thursday--fell at school and hurt her wrist. DH and I thought it was just sprained because she would move it and even did her homework. There was no swelling or bruising. Friday-I decided to take her to pediatrician just to make sure because she said it only hurt when she pushed on something. Ped doc. really didn't think it was broken but sent us for xrays. Guess what? Green stick fracture in the wrist. She is currently wearing a splint and we have an appointment with orthopedic doc. on Monday morning. She was looking forward to going to a cousin's skating party Sunday as it would have been her first skating party. Needless to say, she can't skate but I told her if it wasn't bad weather (they are giving a little chance of ice here tonight) that I would take her to watch and have cake and ice cream. We need your prayers! Thanks!

Awww the poor kid.

Very gentle hugs to her.

If I can offer one piece of advice that positively SAVED us with DS's fractured wrist. ASK ABOUT A WATERPROOF CAST!!!!!! It had a liner similar to the moisture barrier they put on new house construction, and the cast was fiberglass. TOTALLY waterproof. 36 hours after being casted, DS spent 6 hours swimming in the ocean. Showers were a snap too.

We had to pay $25 out of pocket for it, since insurance would not cover the full cost, but it was worth EVERY penny, and then some.

GET THE WATERPROOF CAST if it's at all possible for her type of break. :) :)

Sorry that your daughter has had a rough week. That's too bad, Give her a big hug!!

On another note, you mentioned that she had 2 teeth extrated to get ready for braces. my DD will be 7 ina few weeks. Has your daughter lost all her baby teeth except for those 2? My daughter has only lost 2 teeth altogether. When will she be getting braces? do they do them this young already. I didn't get mine until I was 13, but that was 21 years ago.

Thanks! I had already thought they they had something like that. I hope that she can get one. I agree it would be worth the extra $$ for the convenience. I am trying to figure out what shirts we have to wear. Amazingly, I have just discovered that she doesn't have many button-up shirts just pull-overs.

DD has 4 top permanent and 4 bottom. She is getting braces on Feb. 19th. They will only be on those 8 teeth. They now have a phase one orthodontic treatment that is supposed to help keep from losing permanent teeth later. She will wear these about 12 months and they will put permanent retainers on until the rest of her permanent teeth come it. If we are real lucky, she may not have to have a second set of braces.:confused3 We have researched this and it seems to be the way to go as best as we can tell.

poor sweetie! I say she deserves a little cheer me up toy!!

Wow, that is really something what they can do now. Good luck with all of that. I hope that your DD has a better week.

Wow! What a week. Please give her some hugs from her DIS aunties!

My DD7 is starting orthodontia in a few weeks, too. She had impressions for palate expanders taken last week. She'll be going through the first phase for her entire elementary school years, and then have a second phase with braces in middle school.
