We were returning to Port Canaveral on the Friday night into Sat. am.. At about 11:10 p.m. ( I awoke right away) the entire ship was swaying back and forth - up on one side, down the other, up on the front and back- like a roller coaster that lasted a good 5 plus hours.
DH went up on deck 4 and was unable to get the doors open - he thinks it was due to wind, but I wonder if the doors were looked.
He went to deck 10 and got out on the deck and reported he had great difficulties standing up and that the water in one of the pools was sloshing all over the deck. The ship was at that time (around 1:00 a.m.) almost deserted.
A mom and a young child were on deck 4 and the mom said the little one was not feeling well.
No one in our cabin got sea-sick- I just prayed that my 6 year old daughter did not wake up as she suffers from motion sickness - and of course all the suitcases which had the gravol in it had been packed away and the suitcases had been picked up for disembarkation. So dd slept through as did my baby. I was awake the majority of the night and although I think I could have gotten used to the rocking it was the creaking, cracking, banging of the hangers in the empty closet, the sliding door and the safe that kept me awake.
My MIL got sea sick and at 83 and in a wheelchair it was most difficult for her to keep her balance and get to the bathroom in time - she was thankfully in anohter cabin.
Otherwise the trip was calm, sunny, warm and wonderful. I think we were in the same storm as that Norwegian Dawn that was hit by the 7 storey wave at about 7:00 a.m. that Sat. morning.
