Hello and THANK YOU to everyone who has written trip reports for their cruise on the Magic going into the Norwegian Fjords! I noticed on the inaugural trip back in 2015 that many people had commented on how rough the seas were on that first day at sea. Does anyone know if this is normal? Maybe I have missed something as I cannot find any trip reports from 2016 to see if they ran into the same issues. THANK YOU for any information! Cheers!

On the 29th June 2016 cruise out of Copenhagen we had rough seas from mid afternoon on the first sea day. My son (aged 4) and I both enjoyed the rocking of the ship but my husband was sick. It was very calm after that

We were on the same sailing in 2016. I would not call that first day rough as we've had much worst before, but I guess it all depends on your tolerance and experience. My wife needs to wear patches at all times at sea and was fine that day. It is open sea until you hit the Norwegian cost, and the ship rides at full speed, so it will be more susceptible to movement, but it is not certain that the ship will rock.

On one cruise last season, I think it was out of Copenhagen, there were 'rough' seas for a couple of days at the start, at one point it wasn't probably worse than the hurricanes I've been through, but from what I remember, that cruise was pretty much a one off...

You're right. It is all relative. I should clarify that it was the rockiest of our 7 days, but our experience is limited. I've certainly seen more impressive videos of rough seas.

We had pretty calm seas out of Dover last year...

I am sailing on the the 11 night Norwegian Fjords/Iceland in June out of Dover so I'm glad to read this even though I know there are no guarantees and the seas are unpredictable.

THANK YOU everyone!!! I'm realizing now as I've read through these that, yes, rough seas is dependent upon your tolerance. My family has only been on the bigger boats the Dream once and the Fantasy once and some people think leaving Port Canaveral that first night is pretty rough and the boat rocks quite a bit and we've never had a problem, so I'm hoping if we decide to do the cruise out of Copenhagen all will be ok as we go through the North Sea! THANKS again!!! Cheers!
