ROTR: is there a wait in line after BG is called?

Once a Boarding Group is called for ROTR … do you still have to wait in a line once you arrive? Or do you go right in to the pre-ride experience?

If you have to wait, how long does it typically take to get through the line to the start of the actual experience?

Yes, there is still a line. I’d say we usually wait 15-20 minutes, but it can be longer. And if it breaks down, they don’t clear the line for an hour - you have to stay to keep your BG.

I had 2 days where I went on RotR at Disneyland. The first day, I was called early, but didn't head back til 730pm. There was almost no line and walked all the way to the preshow. The second time, I had BG1, but they didn't start calling groups until after 11am. I was in GE already when I got called, but did a couple rides on Millennium Falcon through single rider before going over and ended up waiting 30 minutes in line.
But like the PP said, there are many factors that determine your wait in the queue.

We waited an hour and 15 minutes last night. The ride had been down for a bit mid afternoon.

Adding- our boarding group didn’t get called until 8:00 pm and we were standing there waiting to jump in line when it was called. They won’t let you get in the line even when the line is that long and your group is only 2 or 3 away- it was a long wait before we even got to the scan in point- probably at least 20-30 minutes.

We went on it twice this week. The first time we waited 20 minutes in line after our BG was called, and the second time we waited in line 45 minutes after our BG was called.

We went on it twice this week too and both times we walked straight through after getting to the point where our boarding passes were scanned. The second time, though, we were lucky because the ride went down just before our group was called so we avoided being caught in the line while they brought it back up.

It all depends on what boarding group you get and whether the ride has been down all or part of the day. We've walked right on in the morning and waited up to an hour in the afternoon when we had a higher boarding group and the ride has been down for a while, causing a back up of groups.

If your boarding group is 20 or less, you'll typically be called an hour after park open and at that time, the ride is close to a walk on. But by noon, the wait can be up to an hour. Downtime and other factors affect the wait time but I would typically expect to wait 15 to 45 minutes.

The only thing I wish they'd do is make more announcements to queue when attraction is stopped.... or updates every 15 to 20 minutes during 'restart'.

It can be a little claustrophobic once you're into the cave part (or whatever it's called), when things suddenly stop and you have no idea if it's 10 minutes or 1+hour. I know guests are free to leave the line, but they don't automatically give readmission passes until that magical hour time limit.

I guess one hour is the limit until guests go crazy standing smashed together in a line. :grouphug:

Also, while we're on the topic, there is ALWAYS a wait for Spiderman after your BG is called there too. Even for DAS there's a still a line to check in. It was 25 minutes just to scan in last time we went and then they let the DAS people through at that junction. About another 45-60 minutes after you scan in

I don't agree with this. More often than not, I'm at Web Slingers and walking into the first showroom within 5 minutes and don't do the big looping queue to the right. I find that the Web Slingers line fluctuates a lot more throughout the day than Rise of the Resistance and while Web Slingers does get long (30+ minutes), you can sometimes come back a bit later to find a shorter line.

Oh man, I wish! We’ve yet to ride Webslingers with under a 30 minute wait except the first time when we lucked into walking by RIGHT as it reopened and called our BG - we walked right in and were off 11 minutes after getting our BG scanned. We got spoiled that time for sure. 😆

Our average Webslingers wait is easily 2x our average ROTR wait, if you pull out the time ROTR broke down…

I had to wait 30-45 minutes in Webslingers queue. Let's just say, I'd rather spend 30-45 in the RotR queue. So much star wars gear to look at.

I found both of the queues to be highly variable. For RotR, I've wait between 15 minutes to just over an hour. It did seem like if there was a closure earlier in the day, the wait time after scanning was longer. One thing that seemed pretty consistent to me was that if there was a wait to scan into the queue, then the after the scan queue line was likely to be on the longer side (one time the line to scan went from just after you enter all the way down the pathway to the end of the pre-built queue area, and then looped back - the after the scan queue line started just before you went into the covered area before the "tunnels" - that was the longest I'd seen). For Spiderman, I've also been there when the line was less than 10 minutes to over an hour.
