ROTR and Tip Board questions

So here are a couple questions…

1. Whats the consesus on rope dropping ROTR to get in 2 rides in a day? (one with ILL)

2. Can you organize the tip board to put the attractions you most want to check at the top?

3. Does ROTR close before the park does?

4. If you were going to attempt a standby on ROTR what time would you try?

1. Rope-dropping ROTR is a very popular pastime -- you will not be alone, so you will want to arrive early, get a good spot at the hub, and move quickly to Galaxy's Edge via the Adventureland route. Also note that it may down at park opening due to failed/delayed maintenance completion. When we went the opening was only delayed ~15 min, so we were into the preshow around 9 and done with the ride by 9:30am.

2. I don't know for sure -- maybe if you add preferences through the regular Genie part? (Though I've heard that might make things *more* confusing.)

3. ROTR definitely closes before the park -- I think typically around 9pm.

4. Traffic patterns might have changed from early April, but I liked our rope drop strategy. It worked out, and we didn't have to keep checking all day whether the line was long or short, or whether the ride was up or down. We just really didn't want to have to pay for ILL (and we had ridden it before).

1. Do you like to run to rides when the rope drops? We were about 1/4 from the front of the rope to Adventureland and walked at a normal pace to go to Millennium Falcon Smuggler's Run. We were passed by people full sprinting to Rise. When we finally made it to the Rise queue, the cast member there was quoting 45 minutes from the point we made it to which was almost back to the market area. It's not worth it to me to deal with that. Add to that it constantly goes down. If you've never been on it, riding twice might make sense and it's better to standby in Anaheim than Florida.

2. When you set up your Genie+, you can tell it what rides you want to hit. It will place those in the tip board towards the top. When you get a LL, you can see it in My Genie Day. I would show you but my Genie already reset since our park days are over.

3. Yes. 9pm. If you do MFSR, it features Batuu at night out the cockpit which is fun.

4. In the Disneyland app, you can look at the forecast for the day if you go into the Rise ride screen. It shows the day but it's not a specified number. Looking at today, it shows 11am as the lowest wait time which is probably 45 to 60 minutes.

We're currently in standby line at ROTR, not sure exactly what time we entered but somewhere between 6:50 pm and 7 pm. The posted standby time was 60 min. We entered the tunnels around 7:15ish. $ILL were sold out by 4:30 or 5pm. It is a grad night too, but that's at DCA. I'll post when we're in the pre-show.

anyone who has rope dropped RotR, do you have to sprint once let in? I have elderly parents who can barely fast walk and they would love to rope drop with us but I'm worried we're gonna be overtaken by others even if we go super early. Is it possible to make it onto RotR with a reasonable wait time if we just walked to it at rope drop?

Is it possible to make it onto RotR with a reasonable wait time if we just walked to it at rope drop?

Honestly with all the standing around, queue walking, and chance for ride breakdowns, I'd get the ILL for all of you. I know it's a lot of money but I think it might be for the best for anyone who might have mobility issues. You're definitely going to be zoomed past by multiple people. The ridiculousness of others really confirmed for me that it was a good decision to just spend the money and not take part in that. I just refuse to take part in that. Sadly, since you go through New Orleans Square which has multiple paths, there's no good way for the cast members to stop the foolishness of the runners. It's not like the WDW version where it's straight shots down a space with only one way to funnel you in. WDW's version is a lot easier to manage.

It depends how long you plan to spend in the land. We grabbed it for 9am as we planned to ride MF once or twice and then eat breakfast at Ronto Roasters before jumping on. Rise went down around 8:45 and then went down off and on till 10:15. We had Oga's at 10:25 so we just figured we'd wait till after. If the ride goes down during your ILL time as long as you haven't scanned in, it will get converted to an anytime ILL so you can return when it's convenient. Given it's delicate state, you should plan on it going down a few times.

I'm not sure what happens if you're on the ride and it breaks down. I guess they give you the option to wait or convert to anytime ILL.

Galaxy's Edge is not that big so the earlier the better IMO unless you plan to stick around for Savi's Lightsaber building, droid building or Oga's.
