OK, I need you help fellow DIS'ers. We are thinking of trying Rose & Crown and need all your opinions. We have tried many restaruants with so/so reviews before & have loved them. We just need some feedback.

Thanks in advance.

I've always enjoyed Rose and Crown for dining. I am a creature of habit though, and only order the bangers and mash. They are excellent by the way! Other folks that I've been with have had several of the other menu items and all were quite nice.

I particularly like dining on the outside patio area, but inside isn't bad either (unless you are trying for an Illuminations view).

The service is always friendly and the CMs there are very willing to talk about their home. That's part of the fun, eh?

Oh, and they pull a decent Guinness too. For this country anyway. :)

DH and I had lunch there in November. Our first time there. We have passed it by so many times!! He still raves about the Potato-Leek soup! I had the ploughman's lunch, which I enjoyed. We will definitely make an ADR for dinner on our next trip!

We used to enjoy R&C, but our last trip in June has put us off the place. The dinner menu has really been pared down and there aren't a lot of options. DH had the bangers & mash and said they were only o.k. I had the fish & chips. They were not good (soggy chips, tough fish). If you want fish & chips, go to the stand next door. They're cheaper, fresher, and tastier. The service was marginal. The waitress brought out our entrees, completely forgetting about the soup. We had to ask for it and didn't get it until we were nearly done with our entrees. Beer was good. If you really want to try it, I suggest lunch. It's a better menu.

How are the portion sizes at lunch compared to dinner?

I've read many places have cut down portion sizes and wondering if lunch is so small that a teenager would have to fill up on bread. BTW, yummy bread at R&C.

the lunch menu at allears is pretty outdated. Do they still have that vegetarian selection at Rose & Crown's lunch??

I totally agree!:thumbsup2 I, too, am a creature of habit and always order the fish and chips. Love them! And the service is always very friendly. We've always lucked out and gotten a seat on the patio for Illuminations. Many times, we've had our server sit down and chat with us after the fireworks - talk about home and where we're from. Sometimes we don't get out of there until after 10pm. And, yes, the beer always makes it worth it!

We ate there last week and LOVED it. Holy moly it was good. I had the Chicken Tart Appetizer and oh my goodness it was SOOO good. Then I ordered the Shepherds Pie (DH had the salad which was fantastic and the fish and chips). DS had bangers and mash. We all decided it was our favorite table service during our trip.

Oh, and that sticky toffee cake dessert made me so food happy I grinned for the next two hours about it. DH had the mousse dessert and it was delicious too! I wouldn't pass this one by!
