Rose & Crown...or a different restaurant?

When we go to WDW in July (yes I know it's still far away, but ADR window is just over 3 months away, which will fly!), we will be spending 2 full days, plus one evening only, at Epcot. The evening we spend there, we will just snack around the world showcase (we're doing afternoon tea at the GF that day, so no dinner ADR that night). One of the full Epcot days, we will go to San Angel Inn for lunch and Biergarten for dinner. The other full day, we know we want to go back to Chefs de France, probably for lunch, but we're also willing to try dinner there, especially since we take an afternoon break and we stay at BWV...France is very convenient when re-entering the park! Rose & Crown seems appealing, but I'm not sure if we should go there for lunch or dinner.

So...how are the fish & chips at Rose & Crown? This would definitely be what I would get there. DH is not so into fish & chips...what else is good there? Would you plan the day for lunch at Rose & Crown, and dinner at Chefs de France, or the other way around? We'll be with our 2 sons, ages 5 and 7 when we go.

We are also pretty flexible, if anyone has a suggestion for a different restaurant. However, we don't want to go back to Le Cellier or Marrakesh...they weren't really bad, we just weren't overly impressed and we would like to go somewhere different.

While we have never eaten at Rose & Crown, I am very interested in hearing other people's opinions. Its a restaurant that you don't hear a lot about!

We loved the food my daughter and I had the fish and chips which were great and my husband had the shepards pie which he also loved. We all had the leek soup also good we had 8 pm reservations so we got to watch the fireworks show from the back patio that they have the service was great and all the food being served looked wonderful also:banana:

Oh, DH would LOVE the Shepherds Pie! Right up his alley...a meat & potatoes kind of guy! I looked at the menu on All Ears, and the prices are also very reasonable, especially if we go there for dinner.

I am also considering Garden Grill, for an additional Mickey meal for the boys (already returning to Chef Mickey's), and the fact that it is a character meal and not a buffet is pretty appealing. And OK, OK...DH does love Chip & Dale so this would make him happy too! Also, the boys would be happy to go on the Living With the Land ride, and then eat food that comes from there!

Ahh...so many choices! Not sure yet what we will do for sure when I made ADRs in January, but I am definitely interested in more opinions!

Well... we loved Rose and Crown! We went there for lunch and I had the fish and chips, and DH had the steak. He said it was amazing, and i had a bite of his and had to agree! My fish and chips were pretty good, as well. I would go there, but when you check in request a table outside (if its not to hot). Maybe go for a late dinner and request to be seated outside when you check in so you can watch Illuminations while you eat?

As for the French restaurant, we had an ADR there but cancelled it the day of because the menu at Rose and Crown just looked better to us!

For the evening-only, use CS and/or snack credits at the Patisserie, the CS location in France.

For one Epcot day, San Angel for lunch and Biergarten for dinner sounds just fine.

For the other Epcot day, Rose & Crown for lunch and Garden Grill for dinner. Or Coral Reef for lunch and Rose & Crown for dinner. At R&C DH could have Sunday Roast or Chicken Pie for lunch, or a cheeseburger; for dinner the Sunday Roast, the Shepherds Pie, or the Grilled Sirloin should all appeal to him. At Coral Reef you can get another fish selection, but DH can have a Strip Steak, Roast Pork Chop, or Seared Chicken Breast. Coral Reef is more about WATCHING the fish than EATING the fish.

Or you could do an early dinner that day at Cape May Cafe. It's a non-character buffet and while the crab legs are the biggest draw the menu includes a lot of non-seafood items as well. Especially if you need to take a mid-afternoon break for the kids, an early dinner at Cape May before you re-enter the park for the night would seem to fit pretty well.

While these are all good suggestions...Chefs de France is a must-do for us. We loved it there last time, and we would like to order foods you can't get at the patisserie...although, we love to go to the patisserie to get dessert! Coral Reef's menu doesn't appeal to us all that much...R&C's menu is definitely more up our alley. Can't do Cape May...tried it last summer but couldn't stay because DS6's shellfish allergy...the steam from the crablegs got him on the way in and we went to Kouzzina instead...DS6 was fine once we went back into the lobby.

OK, maybe Chefs for lunch and R&C for dinner.

Rose & Crown is currently one of our favorites in Epcot. The fish and chips is not as good as it used to be, but still good. Raglan Road at Downtown Disney is better, but if you're in the park for the day Rose & Crown will be a good choice.

We enjoy both. Since the lunch menu at Chefs appeals to us more than their dinner menu(I should say me;) as I want QUICHE!) we do Chefs for lunch.
Go for the Prixe Fixe, the lobster bisque is great:thumbsup2

The F & C (and the Sherpards Pie) are on both the lunch & dinner menu so I'd go with R & C for dinner. Also the dinner menu at R & C has a few more
options for DH then their lunch menu (when they don't have the Chicken & Mushroom Pie:sad2:)

We loved the Rose and Crown when we went in August. It was one of our favorite meals. The Sunday Roast is awesome, and you have to try the Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert. I loved it so much our server, Tori, gave me the recipe!

Fish and Chips were good (Raglan Road's are a bit better) but loved the bangers and mash! There is just something about that gravy...!:worship:

Hmm...maybe one evening we should go to Raglan Road in DTD (we'll be there 10 nights, so plenty of dinners to enjoy!), and just go to Chefs for lunch and Garden Grill for dinner. How kid-friendly is Raglan Road? We usually go to dinner around 6pm. I'm going to check out their menu again...I recall last time I looked at it (a while ago), they did have some entrees I thought DH would like.

I did forget to mention earlier...we will not be on any of the dining plans, but we will have the Tables in Wonderland card! :thumbsup2

Last time we went to Chefs for lunch (July 2010), we all loved it. I had the quiche and DH had the crepe entree. The boys had a blast because they got to see Remy! I am hoping he will still be there when we go, but we enjoyed the food there so much that we would go again regardless! Last time we made it a surprise for the boys, since I knew the animatronic figure sometimes breaks down and I didn't want to set them up for disappointment...they were so happy when he came out! :goodvibes

We went to R&C for late dinner in August-sat on patio and had front row seats for Illuminations! I would say definately do this it was the best night of our vaca. The food was good- DS got fish and chips, DH got bangers and mash I can't remember exactly what I got lol but it was good!!
We also love Chefs for lunch!!!
And we did eat at Garden Grill for the first time this yr. it seriously was one of the best meals we have had in WDW!!! Everything was delicious including the salad!! ( I'm not a big salad person)

Oh, DH would LOVE the Shepherds Pie! Right up his alley...!

I had the shepherds pie a few years back at the Rose and Crown and loved it, when I returned a year later, it no longer was offered. Have they put it back on the menu again?.:yay:
