We (myself, DH and DD5) ate at the Rose & Crown in Epcot for dinner on 12/16. We had 8:30pm PS. We were luck enough to be sat at a table with a wonderful view of Illuminations. After our meal, while we were waiting for Illuminations to start, the head waitress came to our table and told us she had some good news and some bad news. (We figured they were going to move us.) Instead she told us the bad news was that Mickey Mouse was stuck in MGM Studios after starting Fantasmic and could not make it back to start Illuminations. The good news was that Mickey asked if they could appoint someone to take his place so they picked her. They took her out onto the patio and gave her a 'magic' wand filled with pixie dust. At the appropriate time they had her swirl the wand around a couple of times and a single firework shot out from behind them to start Illuminations.

She even got a little certificate saying that she had had a magic moment and all of the waiters and waitresses signed.

It was an amazing experience, truly magical!!

DH and I watched that same thing happen to a little girl at the table next to us when we were there in December. She was SO excited! I thought that was an awesome thing for the CMs to do. It clearly made that familiy's trip!
