We had dinner at the Rose and Crown last week on our trip. It was GREAT.

We decided to eat there for a couple of reasons - #1 we wanted to try a new restaurant in the World Showcase and #2 we wanted to watch Illuminations from a different spot and we heard that the view from this restaurant was the best.

Anyway to make a long story short - we had dinner there. Our reservations were for 8:00 pm. Not only was the food very good but the best part was they asked my DD (3) to start Illuminations!! They told her Mickey Mouse could not make it and he needed her help. Boy wa she excited (and so were the rest of us). This added pixie dust to our night. At 9:25 pm they invited us down to a table outside and gave DD a wand - it lit up starting with a bottom ring toward the handle and gradually went up and when the last ring was on the wand the next one was the first firework for Illuminations!! Boy was that moment something!! They told her how to move the wand and with each different movement the fireworks would go off - it really looked like she was the one choreographing the fireworks!!

She received a certificate stating that she started Illuminations!!

It was wonderful and something we will never forget!!

I'm happy that worked out so well for you! I'll bet your DD was SO excited...I know I would have been...LOL

We're planning on dinner at R&C during our upcoming trip, so I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it!

Hi Jcemom - What did you and your family have for dinner? My DH and I both had the fish and chips there a few weeks ago for dinner and we were both disappointed - the batter wasn't fully cooked and both the fish and chips were greasy. Maybe we just hit an off night. I make the fish at home using the Rose and Crown recipe and it is always YUMMY.

Hi,

How cool!!!!!! I love the R&C!!! Go @ least once every trip!!

sherry8253 -- we haven't been there yet, we're trying it in February! DH will probably get the fish and chips, I hope his isn't undercooked or greasy, as he likes crunchy batter on his fish!

I haven't decided yet what I want to order, so many things sound good.

I'm so glad to see a good R & C review, as we'll be having Christmas Eve dinner there!

And what fun for your daughter! I hope you got lots of pictures!

What a MAGICAL experience for your daughter!! Our family also ate at R&C last week (we were there Thurs) and the fish and chips was yummy! I enjoyed eating on the patio and having a little heater nearby to keep me warm on a cool night

Just curious-which night? I was also there last week and ate at R&C Tuesday, 12/9. There was a little girl at a nearby table who started Illuminations. If that was your family, where was the lime green?!

Simba's Mom - we had dinner there Wednesday 12/10 at 8:00 pm.

I know, I know - I had NO lime green ribbon!!! I only wore lime green ribbon on one trip and that was last year 10/31/02 - 11/10/02 - We did WDW / Disney Wonder / WDW and I wore it all the time. I didn't see anyone with a lime green ribbon and noone commented to me about it. I was a bit dissapointed because I would love to meet someone else from the Dis!!
