How is Rose and Crown? We have never eaten here. My sons are picky eaters but I think they can either order the pizza or fish and chips off the children's menu and be happy with it. DH and I think the menu looks good. Any thoughts or opinions on this restaurant would be appreciated! TIA!

Asking for an opinion about any restaurant is asking for a lot of conflicting views on the same thing. Lots of people will like it. Lots of people won't. So, for what it's worth, we've eaten there numerous times, with and without kids, and have enjoyed it every time. Great ales, too. And don't miss the sticky toffee pudding.

Our opinion of the food was good. Not stellar but good. The service was good, but very slow. Our dinner took 3 hours! We weren't too happy about that. Our kids enjoyed the food and had a blast making their own ice cream sundaes. We probably won't be rushing back for another visit simply because the length of the meal was a little off putting, but maybe they were having a rough night.:confused3

Our Ratings of Rose & Crown:
. . . food price value: C
. . . food quality: B
. . . food quantity per serving: B
. . . food prep speed: B
. . . food selection: C
. . . seating quantity: C
. . . seating comfort: B
. . . eatery atmosphere: C
. . . eatery convenience: B
. . . staff friendliness: A
. . . staff attentiveness: B
. . . character interaction: n/a

NOTE: Rose & Crown is typical English cuisine. Nothing special,
but usually above average in quality. Viewing Illiuminations from
the patio is a good view, although seating on the patio is not reserved
and you cannot wait for a table on the patio. The bar/lounge/pub area
is classic Engish with a great selection of beer and spirits. Additionally,
the "Hat Lady" piano player is excellent. Overall good for drinking and
snacking, but only so-so for meals.

We love Rose & Crown - it's on our must-do-every-trip list! We try to make our reservations for some time between 7 and 7:30. We check in EARLY - as much as 2 hours ahead - and tell them we're willing to wait for a patio seat. So far, 3 out of 3 times, we've watched Illuminations during our dessert. Our oldest son (8) is super picky, but even he loves this place. (Definitely get the sticky toffee pudding).

We've dined at many of the WDW table service restaurants and found Rose & Crown to be the only one that was truly disappointing. We ordered the pot roast and found it to be dry with vegetables that were cooked beyond recognition. Our server was very pleasant, but service was slow. Some day we may try it again.

DH and I are going to try this next December for a light meal and BEER! I appreciate the comments but I love to try new places!

We like it. We don't love it but it's decent enough. It's our 3rd favorite Epcot restaurant and we've eaten at all but the one in China.

It's the one place in all of WDW that we've only tried once and HATED enough to never try again. Usually we try a place a few times as we may have had a bad night, but the food had no appeal to any of us and what we all had didn't taste good at all. We all left hungry looking for CS food to eat. We had tried it as part of the Candlelight package.
As PPs say though, you'll get both sides of the coin when asking for opinions and if the menu appeals to you, give it a shot.

We got lucky with a walk up and got patio seating right before Illuminations. Other than that it was unmemorable. Not bad but not good KWIM?

It was pretty ok. I had fish and chips, which was fine. The Welsh Dragon drink was yummy! Also, the sticky toffee pudding is outstanding! We aren't going there this next time, but we'll go back eventually.

This is amazing and totally worth giving it a try. Im my opinion there is nothing better than watching Illuminations, while eating stellar fish and chips!!

But otherwise you are better off at Via Napoli.

My family went here our last vacation. We wanted to go because my husband is English so he thought it might be nice to taste some English food again. Although the menu is made up of authentic dishes, he didn't feel like it tasted like what it should. Also my mom and I (Americans) weren't terribly impressed by the food either. It was fine, but not great. Also the waiter was REALLY slow and it took forever for anything or sometimes he would forget entirely. My husband seemed to think he was trying to be accurate to English waiters, lol.

My Dad and I are big fans of this place, with a great set-up inside for a fun atmosphere. We get the fish and chips and usually try different beers.

As for kids, I don't know whether they would appreciate the layout or anything like that, but as long as they know the food options then I think it would be fine. It would probably be one you would definitely be enjoying more though.

For us the selling point is the drinks we can get there (not to say the fish and chips aren't good, but I wouldn't make a special trip just for them).

Never ate at R&C and one of the reasons for that, as a PP mentioned as well, is that it is 'typical English cuisine'. Sorry, but that does not sound too exciting to me, haha! However, the Welsh Dragon adult beverage seems like it would be awesome.

I thought their Sunday roast was excellent...and the server I had there was very attentive...it was a good experience for me and I would recommend it

We really enjoy it! I have always had a good dinner there and great service. I love their selections on the menu for both the appetizers and entrees. The Sticky Toffee Pudding is sooo good for dessert. Also, we enjoy having some beers!!
