Rope Drop Soarin

We have always used fastpass in the past to ride Soarin, but this trip we are thinking about doing it either at Rope Drop or in the late morning.

I notice today its a 50 minute wait. Since the third theater opened is the wait ever over 60 minutes? We are going at the very end of August, so usually we are past the peak summer crowds at the point?

Should I break down and do the fastpass or try just stand by?

You can do it at rope drop. Typically, even in summer, the wait in the first 30-45 minutes the park is open stays under 30 minutes. The third theater has helped a lot. Right before park close is also a great time, you can walk right on.

We did Soarin' at rope drop the week after Easter (so, peak time!) and only waited 5 minutes. I'd say just plan to head right there and you should be good to go! We actually even did Frozen after that and only waited 15 minutes, so we changed our FP to Test Track later in the day. (Would've done Test Track earlier too but kept breaking down so the line got really long)

is the wait ever over 60 minutes?

Yes, it does reach 60 minutes and likely will even at the end of August but if you do it first or second thing in the morning you should not have to wait longer than 20 minutes or so.

During the day Soarin wait is usually 45+. Last couple months I've been by it I usually saw it around 60-75min wait

We RD via the IG and the last 3 trips during F&W the posted wait time as we entered the ramp was 10 mins and it was actually pretty close to that. Upon leaving it's usually 50 or 60.

I was at WDW last year mid-Sept so should have similar crowds as end of Aug. I went to Soarin' at rope drop and walked right to the pre-show area. Then, when I got off, I think the wait time was posted something like 10 or 15 minutes.

Arriving this year Aug. 29 so I hope it's the same.
