Rope drop @ MK?

Okay this should be an easily answered question for those of you who hace recently been to MK...

I'm curious about the procedure at opening. I may bypass the opening show this time. Just keep in mind, I'm offsite, and it's not an EMH day, so I'd like to know what the procedure is like. For those of you confused, I mean when you get to the front, do they let you through the turnstiles before rope drop, or do you wait until opening to go through there and there is no "rope drop", or what? It's been a couple of years since I've gone, and I'd like to know how the main (and each land thereafter) operates...

We were there for rope drop on a non-EMH morning at MK in Sept. and they let everyone onto Main Street and the castle hub area. The entrance to each respective land was roped off. We waited at the rope in front of the bridge to Adventureland. If I remember right the rope to Fantasyland is at the castle entrance.
