Rope Drop Meet Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse at Town Square Theater?

Is it crazy to use an early Fastpass to meet them? I made a Fastpass for 9:00-10:00 am, planning to tap in right at 9 to meet them and then head to Adventureland/Frontierland with the hopes of riding at least Pirates and Splash. We're going in mid-May, so a moderate crowd time I think (not Easter/Spring Break). I don't know if we would lose any advantage at the rides though by doing that....last trip we had a mid-day Fastpass to meet Talking Mickey and we still had to wait a bit.

That plan should work fine.
I still think there are better uses of the first three FPs (and better places to meet MM at WDW,)
but if this plan is what you like, have at it.

An alternative plan would be Pirates at rope drop, followed by Splash and/or BTM,
then do MM later in the day (by booking a later FP, if you like.)

The idea of spending extra-high-value rope drop time with a character
(especially one that is available all day at all parks) is not my ideal plan.

I think that's a good plan if you definitely want to meet them in either MK or their special outfits and you don't want to backtrack (character meets are very important to my family so I get it). I was going to do that as well but couldn't get an FP right at 9. The meet will be quick and you shouldn't have any issues with getting to the other rides with reasonable waits in May.

This past weekend - Sunday - we waited about 25 minutes at 9:45am. Tinkerbell at the same location was 45 minutes at the same time...

My thought is that once we venture into the park, we won't backtrack later to this attraction. Meet and Greets aren't high on our list of things to do (we are doing Akershus one morning, and Chef Mickey's on our son's 3rd birthday), but I figured if we do one it might as well be the Main Man/Mouse.

If this is his first trip then yes I would do it. While the interaction at CM is good, it's SUPER overwhelming and this Mickey looks better IMO. More classic. I'm still sad we didn't go over my son's first trip on his 5th birthday. We went to Cef Mickey's for breakfast on his actual birthday and all of us were overwhelmed by the chaos...and underwhelmed by the food!

We were able to get a spot for the parade close to where he meets and just popped in line right after, as soon as they let people line up. We only waited about 15 minutes. I will add that we were on our way out at that point anyway to head back to the resort with our toddlers so it wasn’t backtracking. Maybe if you already plan to leave the park around that time for a break it could work.
