Rope drop FOP when park opens at 8am?

Some friends managed to get a fast pass for Na'vi River Journey, but not Flight of Passage. They'd still like to try FOP at rope drop, on a day when the park opens at 8am. How early should they arrive?? Their NRJ fast pass is 8:30am to 9:30am. The hope is to get FOP done before then, so they are willing to arrive early. What time should they hop in the car to get there?

I arrived 75min early, rode flight of passage and then Navi River journey after which had about a 15 min wait.
