Anyone knows if there are rooms taken out inventory in August or is it really gonna be that busy? I am going August 15th to 20th. In the search for the right room and the right price, I not only checked through Disney CRO, Disney Web (passholder and general public) but also Expedia and others like it. There are very few rooms available at that time. I can not believe that most all rooms would be booked at this time. (It's supposed to be one of the Wonderful Weeks Of Disney when there is lighter crowds) I'm not overly worried about crowds. We always tend to make do regardless of the crowds. But I'm just amazed that most rooms are booked, considering how many rooms Disney has.

I am going to be there the exact same dates and was wondering the same thing myself. We booked hoping this would be a slower week to go, but now I'm getting a little concerned it will be really packed. I'll be interested in seeing other responses as well.

Based on the fact that most Florida schools start up between the 20th and 22nd, and I believe the seasonal passes end their blackout around the 16th, there could be a lot of people taking a few days for fun right around that time. That, coupled with the AKL issues and the free dining start up (Don't the UK and bounceback guests start their free dining earlier than everyone else?) could make for a tight squeeze for a few days. I remember last year that the week before free dining people reported the parks were empty and the first week of free dining, they were packed (since most kids weren't back at school yet).

I replied above, but I should also mention that I'm in Texas and this is the first year that Texas is changing the school yr. calendar due to a new law that was passed  .

Years past school started in early August, and now the entire state of Texas starts school the very last week of August (we start Aug 27) so I don't know if lots of people from Texas are going to Disney or what, but it's a BIG state so it could possibly have some effect.

Now that you mention it, the UK and DOES start like 2 weeks earlier. I remember getting excited because we start our vacation on the 12th and that's when the UK free dining was offered to begin. Not sure about the bounceback, though.
