Room view for GC

Thank you Blackjack for posting the awesome picture. We have a 1-bedroom villa at the end of next month, and OH MY GOSH!! You really are RIGHT THERE. I'm used to WDW where all you see is other rooms. It's almost like you're practically right in Downtown Disney!!! My poor husband is going to see dollar signs as we do all that SHOPPING!

So, how far in advance can you request rooms?
Thanks so much for helping out our excitement!

From what I understand, it is either a park view or the pool view. Some say that the pool view gets you a good view of the fireworks, I would rather not be on the 1st or second floor, we will see.

Cool- look forward to hearing about your trip.

Thank goodness I came across this thread. We are in the early stages of planning our first ever DL trip (Sept. 2011) and DH and I both decided that we wanted to stay at the GC. We originally had planned on staying in a Theme Park View but after hearing everyone's posts about the DTD View, I think I may sway DH into doing this, especially since it is cheaper. I think it would be really great to watch the fireworks from our own balcony (I know I have to request a particular area). We are Midwesterners who have never been to California before and no nothing about DL (have been to WDW more times than I can count) so I will be lurking on most of these threads trying to figure out and plan our once in a life time trip. Thanks for all the input thus far :goodvibes

:welcome: - to the West Coast side, that is!! Do ask for a DTD room closer to the World of Disney store for a better view.

Have a great time!

BlackJackDelta, we had a room that was probably not too far down from that picture you took. Looks like the same floor too. Wonderful room....

We usually get a DtD view room and never had a problem with the music, until one time we must have been right above the piano player and he seemed to have the amp volume turned up. We could hear the music thru the closed sliding glass door. This was a one time problem and have not had any problems since.

Luckily the music stopped at 10pm.

You can request a room at the time you make the ressie, but be aware that you may not get your request. I always tell the CM I am celebrating my birthday(which I do every year at DLR), maybe it helps, who knows. Best of luck.

Can you view WOC from any rooms at GHC? Currently we have a DTD view, but think I would rather see WOC than the fireworks. Any opinions?
