Room upgrades?

I'm interested in finding out if anyone out there has ever been offered a stateroom upgrade and what the circumstances were surrounding the upgrade... We are Castaway Cay Club members. Is that a benefit sometimes?

Nope, I don't think it makes much difference if you are a Castaway Club member in regard to getting an upgrade. We were CC members this year and didn't get an upgrade. We did get an upgrade on our first cruise though. I found out about the upgrade four days before we sailed.

After extensive research and review, the members of the DIS boards have been able to determine with absolute certainty the pattern for who gets offered upgrades.......



Their conclusion......


There is absolutely no pattern. It seems to be entirely based on randomness, lucky and pixie dust (mostly the latter).

Rence said it best....very much a random thing. We have been upgraded a few times....didn't really matter how early or late we booked, if we had an assigned room or a GTY, had an inside or an oceanview or balcony....we have been upgraded on all different scenarios.....no rhyme or reason. Luck of the draw.

This is our thrid cruise we will be going on and no upgrade....

That is why it is always recommended to reserve the room you would be happy with and not be disappointed if you don't receive an upgrade.

I think the true and only secret to receiving an upgrade is as mentioned earlier lots and lots of pixie dust....how I would love to be upgraded....but I booked what I would be happy with...I guess upgrades were not meant to be for our family...A BIG positive is that we will be on vacation enjoying ourselves together!
