Room Upgrade Pixie Dust!!!

Checked in for my 1 bedroom at AK Kidani Village for a family of 5 and to my surprise when we walked into our room it was a Grand Villa!!!! The kids were thrilled as my 2 DD's had a room and bath for themselves and my DS had his own place. Never stayed in a GV and now we are spoiled. Plus we had maid service everyday to our surprise. When I checked out I asked about the upgrade and was told that it was based upon limited room inventories for 1 BR Savannah views. This made our Christmas trip extra special.

Yup, you are now spoiled. Downgrading to a "measly" 1br on your next trip will be tough. I think you'll survive through.

Thanks. We stayed 3 nights in room 7820. Very convenient to Rafiki elevator for parking and short walk to main lobby. Also ice machine just around the corner from our room. Only issue we had was the room did not have a coffee maker and that was remedied in short order. Incredible stay and only wished it could have been longer.

Wow, I hope I get that kind of "surprise" next year! We will be 4 of us and hoping to get a GV for the holidays at the 7 month window.

Sounds like a magical trip. Did you check in extra late, after all the 1 BRs were gone?

Yes I did check-in late around 10pm and did the online check-in the day before. To be honest I thought they may have made a mistake when we got to the room but it was late and we were tired. I figured if it was a mistake I would hear from the front desk sooner or later. I was not aware this happened as I thought DVC did not do upgrades.
