Couldn't see a thread about this already, so thought I'd start one myself. :)

For anyone who doesn't know, this thread is about what you find on the official Disneyland Resort TV channel in Disney Hotels. "The Top 10 Things To Know Before You Go" features Sophie as our very enthusiastic host, roaming around the enitre resort and providing her Top 10 tips about staying at Disney.

It's funny, but I found this extremely annoying the first night I was in Disney. But by the second day, I was starting to warm to it, and it had become something of a joke between me and my family. Whenever we walked past something from the show, we'd pretend to be Sophie! And now, being back home, it's sort of one of the things I miss the most about being in Disney. Sophie's enthusiasm is a perfect example of how adults can just revert back to being kids once they're through those gates.

What about everyone else, any thoughts on Sophie?

I'm yet to 'meet' Sophie as I've always stayed offsite before at DLRP and so we didn't receive this on our room TV.

I know what you mean though as I've watched the equivalent in WDW ~ it's a cross between annoying and compulsive viewing!

I hate it and would rather stick pins in my eyes than watch it ever again - mostly because, even in 2007 when I first watched it, it was out of date even then!!!!

At long last - another Sophie fan! I have often mentioned her in my trip reports but nobody else seems to know what I'm on about.

There is something compulsive in watching such bad acting. Some of my favourite meaningless expressions of the script....
"Dinner show? I thought you were supposed to eat this thing, not ride it!"
"And yes, there is a neverland for dreamers everywhere, including moi"
"If you're easily thrilled you'd better take your chill pill"
...and of course her singing (to the tune of small world) "da da da da da da dum....catchy tune"

Don't worry about being offsite people, Sophie is also on the telly at Kyriad and Magic Circus - yay!

We also like the French presentation and the Dutch one is wonderful!

i find her voice really irritating and now its in my head and i cant get it out agh. also the fact that a lot of the info on it is out of date bugs me too. they should redo one each year according to the theme or whatever and maybe cast someone with a voice thats more suitable to easy listening

Aaah sophie, the only thing we could find in english on the telly. Im with you on the pins elaine. Irritating and in need of an update. Shes far too twee.

You can also watch her and her foreign counterparts at the E'lyssee.

We always shout "Hello Mum" on It's a Small World when we go under 'London Bridge' like she does on the video!!

LOL so do we! We also call "coo-coo Paris" like the French girl (?also Sophie?) does.

Okay, with each post I am sounding sadder and sadder.

I'm with you. I am a secret Sophine fan too. Love checking into the room and switching her on, before heading to the parks. Always gets me further into the disney spirit :goodvibes

To make you feel less sad I'll share...

we always pick which one on the bus is most like our mums! We have to do it quite quickly!!

:rotfl2: Thanks for sharing this. i found the woman VERY annoying but became part of the morning routine to be woken by Sophie followed by Hannah Montanah. i have just watched it and it brought a huge smile to my face. funny enough you don't mind watching it if it means you will be off into the park shortly:lmao:.

Excellent link, thanks!

I was just looking through their other vidoes and found this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ysg7lTWSxgM

It's a bit of the '95 version. Really brings back memories! Really wish we could go back to that Discoveryland. The exit from Star Tours was amazing! Visionarium fitted better in the overall theme and the Beauty and the Beast show was fantastic.

They were the days!!!

Glad to know there are some other Sophie fans out there, I think she's great and find her OTT enthusiasm very infectious. I've been trying to track her down to do an interview for the podcast but can't find anyone who knows who she is, let alone be able to contact her.

I found and uploaded the whole 18 minutes of her segment last year and here it is.

A friend of mine loves Sophie, in the end we had to limit how many times he watched the slot:rotfl2:

ahh thanks steve, takes me back. use to just sit and watch her after a long day in the park, brings it all back :)

:scared1: She is so annoying ...I'm still trying to work out her accent ...I guess I should be thankful that I've never stayed in a DLP hotel before :rotfl2:

I actually found that video about a month ago after coming back from DLP, and I watched it daily for about a week. Really helped with the post-Disney blues! Thanks very much. :goodvibes

I notice on the link that you said in the comments Disney should bring her back to do one for the 20th Anniversary. Well, I was just there in December, and she seems to have recorded additional voice-over material about the Magical Moments festival, so clearly DLP still have ties with her. Good luck tracking her down, and if you ever get her on the podcast, make sure you come back and post a link! :)
