I tried a search for this but couldn't get the search feature to work at all :( so sorry if I'm asking something repetitive. We're currently a family of four, kids are 2 and 11, and are contemplating a third child. It looks like most the DVC resorts have rooms for up to 4, then skip up to 8 people. Can you fit 5 into the rooms for 4 if one of them is an infant or toddler? It seems like a big leap, and would make a lot of difference in whether we'd buy in or not-if we have to have enough points to afford a stay in the bigger room, we might be out.

And anyone know offhand which resorts do have rooms for 5?

If the youngest is under 3 (or 3 and under?) you can keep them in the room in your own travel crib (darn if I can remember what they are callled). The new animal Kingdom 1 BR will have 5 as their official size.

If you buy, definitely look into AKV or the rumored KTV (if and when it opens). AKV, for sure, will allow 5 people in a 1-BR!!! :thumbsup2

The other option would be to consider OKW. I just ran the point requirements for a 2-BR at OKW versus a 1-BR at VWL/BC/BWV-pref view for August 2 - 9 of this year. OKW would cost you 296 points for a 2-BR versus 270 for a 1-BR at VWL/BC/BWV.

If you consider OKW, almost all resale contracts (unless otherwise noted) will expire in 2042. If you purchase through Disney, it will be much higher ($15-$20 per point), but the contract will expire in 2057.

Best of luck!!! :goodvibes

Disney never counts the first child under 3 against occupancy limits, so any room for "4" will hold "4+toddler" - even at the values (though I gotta imagine that's tight).

As occupancy discussions are a hot topic here, they are limited to this thread: DVC Occupancy Thread. You may continue the discussion there, if you wish.

The only room that will "officially" sleep 5 or any age will be the non-value class AKV one bedroom units, they will have a pull out sleep chair in addition to the sleeper sofa. Otherwise, current unit occupancy is is 4 + one child under 3 in a pack n play crib, which is provided.

DVC is also currently allowing 5 in all non-value one bedroom unit, but you must provide a sleeping bad or air mattress, DVC will not provide a cot or roll-away, and will not provide additional linens. There is no guarantee that 5 will always be allowed.
