I am going on my first WDW trip in June and I am so excited but I am little concerned with my room location. Due to childhood cancer I have to wear a prosthesis on my leg which gets me tired very easily. I really don't need any special in room accomodations but I just want my room to be located near a central location where I don't have to walk very far to get from one place to another. I am planning to stay at the Polynesian so I want to be close to both the Great Ceremonial House and the Transportation and Ticket Center. Do you think WDW could arrange this for me and if so, how can I go about doing this? Thank You.

Welcome to disABILITIES.
Even though you don't need a handicapped accessible room, you would probably be best off contacting WDW Resort Special Reservations:
(407) 939-7807
(407) 939-7670 [TTY]
They help with any sort of special needs requests. If you don't work with them, ask for your requests to be put in as MEDICAL REQUESTS and look for that wording on your confirmation letter. Those have a higher priority than general requests.
If you haven't already considered this, you may want to also look into renting (or bringing, if you have one) an ecv or scooter for your trip. The distances walked each day at WDW are much more each day than most first time visitors imagine. For example, it's over a mile to walk around WS in Epcot.
Here are the rental places that DIS posters have reported renting from:

The Great Ceremonial House and the walkway( a good 10 minute walk) are quite far from each other. My suggestion is to reserve an inexpensive room close to the house. This is where you can catch the monrail to either the TTC or Magic Kingdom. The buildings can be far from the house or close to the walkway not really both.

for my son we needed adjoining rooms, not two separate rooms, I let them know it was for a medical condition, and did not have a problem getting my request fulfilled. Make the request when making your initial reservation. And follow up again 4 days prior to your check in (directly to the resort).
