Room requests when booking through Orbitz

This may be a really stupid question but I just booked a room at POP through Orbitz. When I want to call to make a room request (i.e. request a king bed) can I just call Disney Directly and have that added to my reservation or do I have to call Orbitz and have them put it on my reservation?

You go through Orbitz.

This is what it says when you book: * Special requests were sent to the hotel but cannot be guaranteed. Orbitz recommends that you contact the hotel directly to ensure your request can be accommodated.

For a POR reservation, I actually called the hotel number and made my request (not the general Disney number)

You can deal with Disney directly.

I always request the actual DISNEY 12 digit reservation # from Orbitz so I can give it to Disney when reserving Magical Express, making room requests, etc.:)

I have called Disney directly and given them my room requests for my last 2 trips booked through Orbitz.

As an FYI for anyone reading this thread, calling the hotel number or the main reservation line will get you to the same call center. The phone CM will answer accordingly depending on which number you dialed.

Disney would not add room requests on an Orbitz reservation. You have to have Orbitz call and add your request. You need to be firm with Orbitz(they will insist you need to call the hotel, however they need to) and stay on hold while they make the requests.

Disney wouldn't deal with me directly in March -- I had to go through Orbitz. And, I called three different times to see if I could get a CM to do it for me, but they were adamant that it had to go through my "travel agency."

Did you have the 12 digit Disney reservation # when you called-I always get that from Orbitz and Disney always takes my requests directly when I provide that #.:)

Disney's policy is that everything goes through the third party, like a TA.

Getting a CM that ends up doing it is honestly just luck. After they merged the departments the normal CMs are able to modify these reservations when they previously weren't.

Yes, I had gotten those numbers from Orbitz, and gave them to Disney. They just wouldn't budge from telling me it had to go through the agency I booked with, unfortunately.

I agree with aaarcher-- it's just the luck of the draw whether or not you'll be able to deal with Disney yourself in this situation.

I guess I got lucky! Woman who answered the phone for POR was very nice.
