Hi all,

I'm still new to DVC - our first trip home is this October - so be gentle with me.

Do I make room requests for view, non-smoking, etc., when I book, do I fax them a few days before, or both?

What do you all do, and does it really work???

Thanks for your help,

Daisy;)

When you call MS to make your reservation, tell them your requests in the order of most important (for us, that would be non-smoking first and foremost). It's been said that room requests are filled based on the date the reservation is made.

Our requests have always been met -- so far. We've done 4 DVC trips so far and haven't been disappointed. The only thing that would really be a bummer to us would be a smoking room. That's why we always put it as our first request.

Have a great trip:D

I always make request when I book. The earlier I book, the more likely I get my request. If my request is very important, I fax the room controller a few days before we arrive. I also find a single location request (plus smoking or non) is better received than a long list of requests.

Hope this helps.
Renee

I use to tell MS what I wanted - water view, near a bus stop (or quiet pool) and non-smoking.

This last time I got none of my request - so you have better believe that I am faxing too from now on!

I had a very difficult manager that refuse to work with me - this is when I was told that nothing is guaranteed over the phone - BUT HE SAY THAT CERTAIN ROOMS WERE GUARANTEED!!!!

So yes I am faxing and taking my fax with my reservation (which also has my request).

I had alot of trouble with this person - he says that he notified housekeeping that I was there - when I saw that housekeeping was not working on the building - I called them - he didn't say anything other than the room was needed - nothing about that I was there waiting for it! After I told HK that I was waiting the room was ready in an hour - some people like to boss other around but can't seem to do their jobs!

Anyway if this happens again - I am definitely filing a complaint against him.

I have been a member since 94 and have always made requests when I booked . I have recieved my requests about half the time. Just because you request does not guarantee you getting the room and time has nothing to do with it either. I have made a res. and request 11 month to the day and did not recieve it.

We usually just ask for non-smoking. Sometimes, we also ask for an upper floor. So far, we've only stayed in standard view rooms (all sizes) at our home (BWV). We've yet to be disappointed in our room assignment.

I just make our requests when I book the stay. So far I've gotten them (since 2001 when we joined) Used to do the faxing prior to DVC, but I've chilled out.

We make our first request non-smoking, and we add our preferences from there.

We don't always get what we want. Actually, if we did, we wouldn't know about some wonderful locations that we never would have selected.

Most important, if we don't "get it all" we make the best of it.:D

Non-smoking doesn't seem to be a problem, that comes in when you request buildings. It is best to request areas (ie. Old Turtle pond rd or South Point)
