We are checking in to the polynesian on saturday and I did request a room very close to the room we had last time we were there 2 years ago because the location was ideal. Does anyone know how accommodating they will be if they do not honor our room request at check in? I have a 7 year old with special needs and having the request or as near to it as possible met will make our vacation so much easier. Thank you in advance for all your input and nformation. :goodvibes

Call ahead to check and make sure they know the request is for medical needs (this can be noted on your reservation). May also want to have a letter just incase - yes they can not as because of the ADA but it may help you out in the long run and I say pick and choose your battles. Have a great time!!!

If you can get a letter without paying for a doctor visit, it certainly won't hurt to have one. I doubt that anyone will look at it though.

I would suggest you call the Special Reservations phone number listed in the disABILITIES FAQs thread. They mostly deal with accessible rooms, but may be able to help you with this situation too. If they can't help you, they will be able to give you suggestions for how to get what you need. Make sure before you call that you can explain what made the location ideal for you, so that if that room/location is not available, they can find something that will work.

Actually this is what I was instructed to do (I also requested a special room). My 4 year old is autistic. As for the copay most doctors are pretty good about putting in writing what you need which is why I suggested it. popcorn::
