Wait list came through . We have most often stayed at Boardwalk and beach club We have never been there and are looking forward to it ..

Can anyone give advice on room requests.? It is Just me and DW. Our first trip solo .

Looking forward to spending a lot of time pool side . Maybe a tour or other monorail hotels for drinks and dinner . No parks this year.

On a second note I still have a wait list for standard view . Is there a major difference in the rooms?

Is lake view that much nicer ?? worth the points?

Make sure you end your waitlist before 30 days out. Otherwise, you'll wind up with points in holding.

We had a standard view that looked towards the monorail, pool and water feature along the walkway towards the pool and GF main building. It was very nice.

We had a standard view in June. We could see the fountain, the pool, lake and a perfect view of the fireworks!

I chatted with a cm earlier.
Put in room request for a higher floor. I then asked if there were any other requests I should consider .

He told me he likes the monorail view. I told him I have a lake view room.

Is it possible have monorail view in a lake view room?

I think only the 3 bedroom grand villas would provide a monorail view and lake view.

To get from the VGF building to the Main Hotel, use the covered walkway. The Grand Floridian monorail stop is the last stop before MK, so it does get filled up in the morning and can be an issue to get on board. You can always use the small boat launch as well.

No you will not have a monorail view with a lake view room.

The GV rooms face away from the monorail. The standard view rooms, GF side can see the monorail as it passes the DVC building and enters or leaves the GF station, a very quick view. You can also see it if your standard view is above the front of the DVC building, the beam runs past the front of the building.

There are two types of LV rooms. If you think of the DVC building as shaped like a “T”, then the LV rooms are on the left “upright post” of the T, and on the bottom-left cross-piece of the T. The standard view rooms along the top of the T can see the Monorail, the parking lot, and the spa. The Standard View rooms along the right post of the T can see the monorail and the pool area and the main GF building.

So the LV rooms on the left side of the post (upright) of the T can see Poly and the Wedding Pavilion along with Seven Seas Lagoon. The LV rooms on the left bottom cross piece of the T can mainly see Seven Seas Lagoon and some of the other GF buildings, but some might have a view of Space Mountain. I don’t think any of them can see the castle, but you could check the photo thread and prove me wrong.

If you have a Lake View, I would focus on upper floor or lower floor, because there are a small number of units, so your chances of getting a specific room are not great.

We stayed in a standard studio (thanks, @Matty B13) in August and it was great! we had a view over the port cochere and spa and monorail, and we were high up enough (and perhaps a little to the side) that we didn't see or notice the parking lot. When we stayed lagoon view in the HOTEL, we had a great view of the castle, but from the DVC the hotel is in the way. I think the only chance of fireworks from the room is from a standard view (we were facing in the opposite direction). I would keep the wait list for standard view to save some points, but as @Deb & Bill said, make sure to cancel the waitlist in time so your extra points don't go into holding.
