We will be going June 18th and staying at the WL. I have woods view and I would like to see the fireworks. I have that requested but has anyone had any luck with faxing the WL. I have faxed to the campground and been very sucsessful. Has anyone else faxed a request and did you get what you wanted or am I waisting time. Thanks for your help.

Based on a few posts within the past couple of months, the resorts are disregarding any fax requests. My guess is that they became too numerous for them to handle. If it's noted on your original reservation, I think that's the best you can do until you arrive. Once your at the registration desk, you can ask the CM if your request was met and if not, do they have a room available that would.

Most of the resorts are ignoring the faxes. WL was one of the first to start this. If your requests are listed in your reservation then you are all set.

There have been cast members that have stated this. If you have the requests in your reservation then they don't need to match up a piece of paper to your reservation. Your requests would already be there.

Respectfully, how do you know this to be factual?
It's definitely true for at least the DVC portion of the resort. None of the DVC reosrts consider faxes. It is so stated on the DVC Members' Website as well as in the email communications and snail mail communications members receive. Here's the wording from the Members' Website:

Special Room Request Procedure
As a reminder, the established procedure and appropriate time for making special room requests is when you make your reservation with Member Services. If you have any additional requests, or changes to your original request, call Member Services directly. Please do not call or fax the resort where you'll be staying. To be fair to all Members, the only information we use when trying to honor special room requests is that which comes from Member Services.

With so many Members having special requests, it's important that everyone follow this established procedure. As you can imagine, the number of Members asking for particular rooms, views, floors and buildings makes it impossible to honor all of the requests. We do our best to honor your requests, but please understand that we cannot guarantee them.

It's not much of a stretch to believe that the hotel side of the WL operates the same way as the Villa side. To the best of my knowledge, the room assigners/front desk personnel are the same for both sides.

To the OP - I agree with those who say to make sure your requests are on the reservation. If they are not, call CRO and ask to have them added. It's not too late. You can ask again when you check in if they have anything that meets your requests.

Best wishes-

So do the hundreds of other people staying there. :rotfl2:

The information Safetymom has shared has been shared to many by Disney employees that work in the resorts and at Central Reservations. The Wilderness Lodge went so far as to make an official announcement as stated on the Deb Wills site.

The other resorts have chosen a more passive approach of just notifying the employees affected.

The resorts were simply over run with hundreds of faxes, some pages long. They do not have the man power to spend hours matching the fax to the download info in their computer.

When you make a request to Reservations it is then downloaded with your reservation info to the resort.

As always though, requests are simply that a request and never a guarantee.
