We have booked a 2 bedroom savanna view at AKV Kidani. Does anyone have a specific room recommendation? Of course we would like to see the animals as much as possible. I don't care so much about proximity to the pool, since it is a November trip we will pool it a little but not daily.

Or should I just go with "third floor near lobby"? Do people actually get the room they requested, or just near it? This is our first DVC trip so I want to be sure to request something nice.

TIA! :wizard:

If you already have a savanna room booked, you need to decide if you want near lobby or not. I would never request anything too specific, since you have no knowledge of what rooms are being vacated when you arrive.

I would request near lobby first. I was there in July and we were about half way down the hall (at the bottom of the U) and did not see alot of animals. The giraffes & zebras would only come down there in the late afternoon when they were fed there. Most of the time they were by the lobby.

We were there in July/August and asked for a room "near the lobby". We ended up getting a 3rd floor room on the right side of the lobby - not right on top of it but more to the right into the 'u' and the views were spectacular.

Animals move around the savannah all day - it is pretty large - so there are times of the day they might be in different spots. We didnt see them when we got up in the mornings yet everytime we got back from the parks - around and after dinner time - the animals were out and about - eating and romaing.

So as long as u have a nice room (higher up is better IMO) and with a large patch of savannah off your balcony, you should have no problems seeing animals. It depends on the time of day.

I just got back last sat from our second stay at Kidani. The first time we were there we were on the third floor and halfway around the world(we actually changed counties walking from the lobby to the room) the problem with an upper floor sometimes the trees block your view of the animals. This past trip we asked for close to lobby and a low floor. We got both our requests. We were in room 7224, third bead to the right of the lobby and second floor, the second floor is really the first floor is the under building parking. Awesome room, great view. I am not sure if it is true but the last time we requested things we did online check in and it seems our requests were erased from the ressie. I have heard other people tell me the same thing but I can only say what happened to us. Enjoy you trip. :thumbsup2

Keep in mind that I believe it is from 6 am to noon that the animals are brought in to be checked over and have anything that they need done to them taken care of. That is why people don't normally see them in the morning.

For our upcoming trip in (looks at calendar) two days, I requested a Pembe savanna view or a 3rd floor view near the lobby. We shall see what we end up getting.

Good to know.

Do I have to do online check in? Any advantage to that? We'll be on the Magic for a week prior to our check in date, and in Cocoa Beach for a couple days before that. So internet access will be spotty, and nonexistent on the ship. I'd have to check in 10 days + ahead of time. Would that even work?

Our "third floor near the lobby" request resulted in a 3rd floor room quite a distance away from the lobby past the Rafiki elevator! At least we were near the pool. And as always is noted "requests" are not guaranteed. It was quite a hike from Mara.

Personally, I do not see the need for online check in. I would rather discuss the room arrangements with the CM at check in. I was saying that the requests we made the time we did online check in were no longer even listed on our reservations.

I realize that the requests are not guaranteed but I also think the cm will do more to accommodate you if you are looking them in the face and inquiring about your requests while checking in. You may have to wait a bit longer for your room( just my thought not policy) but I would rather wait a bit longer for a room and get what I want than settle for a room and not enjoy the stay. Enjoy your stay and have a Zebra Dome for me:thumbsup2
