Room only reservation - will I lose my ADRs if I make a package?

Hello,

I have a room only reservation that was booked prior to 2016 tickets being available. My ADR day is 7/10. Do I need to add my tickets and make my reservation a package prior to my ADR day since I will be in effect cancelling and re-entering a package reservation.

If I wait to do this until later in the year, will I lose all of my ADRs?

Anyone with experience on this please let me know. My gut says maybe I need to just make the package now before my ADR window starts.

Thanks, Roxymama

As a DVC member I do this all the time. You'll be able to ADRs 180 plus 10 days I believe. Add tickets to My Disney Experience prior to the 60 day mark so you can make your FPs.

Thanks @Kirk for the response.

Does anyone know what kind of savings you get on tickets if you lump them in as a package vs. buying them on MDE and linking them? I will be only staying 5 total days with 4 day park-hopper tix.
We are going pretty big on hotel and food, etc this time...so we aren't really super penny pinching. I'm just trying to weigh my options.

There isn't any savings by booking tickets with a room unless there is a promo for a package that includes a discount on tickets. With that said, sometimes you can save a little money by buying tickets through Undercover Tourist. We've never purchased through UC, but they have a good reputation on these boards as a lot of people buy tickets through them.

Thank you @mickeynut1 That is very helpful. With your and kirk's advise I will likely go ahead and book my ADR's knowing that I can add tickets on at a later time. Gives us some more time to research and decide what route we want to take on the tickets...also if there ends up being a package pin discount situation we can look into it further.

Also I am from Chicago area and LOVE Benny the Bull...your avatar cracks me up!

I just wanted to pop in and say that I cancelled a reservation yesterday that I had made ADRs for, and when th reservation for the hotel was cancelled, the ADRs were definitely still there in MDE :). So not to worry!
