Does anyone know whether the room-only discount can be applied to any travel package (ie. resort, discovery, deluxe, etc.) offered by Disney?

As far as I'm aware you are not allowed to combine room only discount with packages...This is why I'm a firm believer in booking everything separately and by yourself...you could possibly save hundreds...

Well, with the current CGK/CEP codes, you can add an Unlimited Park Hopper ticket by using CEQ, or add a discounted Discovery Magic Plan by using code CER.

CaliforniaDreaming,

Thanks for the info. Where did you get the CER code from?

In my past experience, booking the best "room only" discounted rates seperately and buting tickets seperatley saves hundreds.

when you book a package thru disney (even if discounted), you get an ultimate pass hopper for your stay- the days expire after your trip. If you buy tickets seperately, the hopper days never expire, so you can save them for a future vacation if unused.

Or buy an Annual Pass for not much more than a 7 day hopper and go back next year w/free admission. we did that 2 years ago. it only cost about $50 more per person than the hopper pass and we didn't have to pay anything the following year for tickets!

This is from Mousesavers...

Discounts and codes that are available to anyone:
Ask for Code CGK and get the following rates 6/23/02-8/24/02:

All Stars $74 standard
Moderates $94 standard
Animal Kingdom Lodge $139 standard
Ft. Wilderness Cabins $159
Other hotels are also available at varying rates. You must book by 5/19/02. Number of rooms available at these rates is limited. Info on CGK appears on the Disney.com web site.

The same rates as those offered for CGK are offered in the 4/7/02 New York Times travel section (and other major newspapers) under Code CEP. Each code may have a separate allotment number of rooms available, so if you can't get your dates or hotel with one code, try the other. Also, you can book a discounted room plus Ultimate Hopper Passes using Code CEQ or a discounted Discovery Magic Package with Code CER. Thanks to Sue Pisaturo of Small World Travel and Karen P of Magical Journeys for the info on these new codes.

Just adding my 2 cents here- on both our recent trips we used packages and we found them to be CHEAPER than buying room and tickets separately. I know most people here buy everything separately but when we priced out the best rate at AKL, buying tickets, and food separately we ended up at or above the package price. There are only two of us- and when I booked the packages, both times, we got a discount off the room and the first time a discount off the entire package. We used Discovery Magic and ate our way through DIsney- but it was fun!!! (IMHO The package was easier because everything was paid for up front- and we ate wherever we wanted- considering food is always a major expense- and no one worried about money and cost the entire time-we were able to enjoy nice meals and some nice recreation options we would not have done otherwise-) I guess if you have kids maybe it doesn't work out as well- I don't know I never priced it.
