We are wanting to stay at BWV for a family vacation in May 05. Here is my question. My husband, myself & our two girls 4&1 will be going and we hope to take my parents with us. The problem is, due to my mother's health she will not be able to commit to the trip until last minute (like 1 month before). I would like to get at 1 bedroom at BWV. I feel that if my parents come that will be ample enought room because our 1 year old will sleep in crib and 4 year old would probablly sleep in king bed with us or air matress. Can anyone give me advice on what to do? I really don't want to book a two bedroom and my parents not be able to come & then we are stuck with room we don't need. Thanks for any help!!!

:D

The stated occupancy maximums for the 1 bedroom villas at the DVC resorts (OKW, BCV, BWV & OKW) are 4 persons plus a child under 3. A Pack 'n Play portable crib is provded for the child.

All the 1 bedroom units have a king bed in the master bedroom and a queen sleep sofa in the living room. The DVC resorts do not provide cots, rollaways or extra bedding to accomodate more than the stated max.

That said, Disney does not do bed checks either.

Do what you think best.

Best wishes -

P.S. FWIW, the Ft Wilderness cabins sleep 6.

They also wouldn't get their own keys or towels/washcloths.

Since the 4 and 1 year old probably won't be using their keys, I would think your parents can use their's if necessary. Towels aren't a problem unless you're staying on points. If you're paying cash, you can get all the towels you want. If you are staying on points, you can get an extra set of towels for a nominal charge.

Your plan is probably doable if everyone can make do with 1 bathroom. The 2-BR would have 2 bathrooms and make things much more comfortable, but I understand your dilemma.

If your mother is in poor health, don't you think it would be nice to give her a real bed to sleep in? And not in the living room on the sleeper sofa? Six people in a one bedroom at BWV will be very crowded.

I don't think kids get their own room keys, do they? Just tickets, which the one year old wouldn't even have. So that won't work, unless they were all planning on constantly being together.

The towel thing is iffy, depending on how they are "paying" for the room.

Thanks fo all the info. Still not sure what to do, but I will probablly wait a few more weeks before I book. Good point on the bedroom for mom, I guess we should go ahead and get the 2 bedroom. If all else fails, we can invite another couple to go along. See you in MAY!!!

Everytime we've gone, everyone on the reservation, adults and kids, got keys. You can have your park tickets added to the keys, but they still function as room keys even if you do this. And as I explained before, towels are easy to obtain no matter how you are paying for the room.

I would go with the 2 bedroom if you can swing it. I slept on the sleeper sofa at BWV in April and it wasn't comfortable, I can't imagine 2 adults on it. I found it more comfortable to just sleep on the folded couch with the back cushions off. One of my friends brought an aero bed and put it next to the king in the bedroom (there were 4 of us).

I'd book the one bedroom. Then if you need to ask to upsize to a two bedroom, which is a onebedroom and a studio. The only thing about your onebedroom plan is putting your parents on the sofa bed...comfy and big enough?

If you do it the other way around, ask for a two bedrrom lock off. itd probably be easier to down size your reservation to the onebedroom. And if you do, book over the phone with Disney. You have a much shorter window of cancellation that you do with agents and online.

Are you booking this through Disney or using Disney Vacation Club points? It does get a little more complicated if you're using points.

But I would book the 1BR for your family and a studio for your parents. If your mom will know about a month out, you can cancel the studio if necessary. If she can make it, you could ask to have your reservations linked if that's what you want. But if her health is still not the best perhaps a seperate studio will give her some extra rest.

How big are the studio's versus a hotel room at BC. I booked a hotel room for 5 people DH both DD16 and DS5 who will sleep between us on the bed anyway. Are the hotel rooms bigger?

I would book a 1 bedroom villa but was told they only sleep 4. I would have thought this would be bigger than the hotel room which I did book for the 5 of us.

If I did book the 1 bedroom villa wouldn't someone see the 5th person. my DS5 and what would they do.

I am getting FITS passes so no tickets will be added to my room keys anyway right or do they add these to the room keys also?

Please help!!

The 1-BR villas have more space than the hotel rooms. The 4-person limit refers more to the fact that Disney only provides bedding and towels for up to 4 guests. ( getting additional towels isn't difficult and there is a washer-dryer in the 1-BR ) You should be upfront with them when making your reservations, since you only get resort ID cards for the registered guests. At BC, this could be a problem if everyone doesn't have an ID if you want to use the main pool. At times, they require everyone in a party to show an ID in order to enter the pool. At other times they don't, so you never know. I don't think you'll have any problems making reservations for 2 adults and 3 children in the 1-BR. It definitely won't hurt to check it out anyway. Good luck!
