Room Checks at Pop??

So my DH is at Pop and he was napping 😴 and a housekeeper was knocking insistently. He had surgery in February on his knee so a lot of walking tires him and usually takes a nap mid day. He doesn’t use crutches or anything and you wouldn’t know to look at him that he had knee surgery. This was a goal for his recovery after surgery to leave the cold and relax in the sun. So he was trying to sleep and this person wouldn’t go away. She insisted that he leave the room so she could inspect it???? He didn’t call for housekeeping or anything and he said it was really weird. He said she was in the room less than a minute. Any clues out there??

This was a new policy after the Las Vegas Shootings and is referenced as trash inspection because ? ...
This could occur daily at different times of the day and is weird.
I have watched them and they do keep in contact with security when somebody does not answer the door or refuses to admit them. I have no clue what happens after all that. I think they are inspecting for guest safety and this would include child endangerment on property.

I've never been told that I had to leave the room for the "security check". That's odd unless it's a new thing since Covid maybe.

We own DVC and never had this happen and we have been going over 25 years. Just a little strange.

You probably never noticed it because pre-covid it was usually part of housekeeping or the daily trash pick-up at DVC. In fact, I think the daily trash pick-up started at DVC because those units don't generally receive daily housekeeping. I do suspect the "leave the room" is due to covid protocols.

We have return to the world three times under the covid protocols and on our last visit one of the room checkers at the BCV asked us to leave the room when she went in. We were a little surprised but asked if it was ok to just go out on the patio and she was fine with that and was in and out in a few seconds. I do think it is new and also the comfort level of the room checker as other checkers came in with us in the room.

I went at Thanksgiving this year and ended up with a kidney stone that put me out of commission for 2 days. A room check happened while I was trying to nap. I explained to the housekeeper that I had a kidney stone and could not leave the room but she was welcome to come in and do whatever was needed. She was very understanding and asked me to just get back in the bed and stay there until she left. Yeah - no problem on that. If it happens again while your dad is resting, maybe if he just explains politely that he just had surgery, they will let him stay in the room, just out of the way.

Possibly partly COVID.

I've also heard of it if the inspector is male and it is a lone female in the room - could see it working the other way also - to protect both parties.

Due to COVID-19 they could be asking people to depart the room during the room checks now.
I stayed at Pop in December 2020 and happened to be in the room when the check person came. I put a mask on to answer the door and just stayed by the door until they left so I could put the deadbolt back on. I was not asked to leave the room either time. One checker was male and the other female. I did have my curtains open-not sure if that would make a difference.

I think the key differecne between you and the OP was your team had 2 both M & F while the other was only 1 person and F - for her safety it makes sense.

Sorry, I didn’t word it well. I had two separate visits, each by one person, one time it was a male CM and one time it was a female CM. So it was just me and the one CM each time.

This is scary to me as a single woman who likes solo trips. You never know if a stranger could knock and pose as a cast member. Call me paranoid, but this doesn’t sit right with me. I had an experience as a teen where some random guy walked into the room I was sharing with other teen girls while we were on a choir field trip. My choir teacher was in the room too so he left, but still, it freaked us out.

Honestly, I would be calling the "front desk" which I know goes to a call center to verify they are legitimate before letting them in the room and I will not be leaving the room if they want to do a security check while I am there. Sorry, but I came back to the room for a reason and they are interrupting that. They can always come back later to do a security check.

Then you just didn't happen to be in the room when they arrived. They pick up the trash when they come around for the room checks. They have been doing this for several years now.
